omhper (10950), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 25, 2002 Amber coloured. Roasty, bitter and deliciously complex.
JonMoore (1551), Loughborough, Leicestershire, England Jun 2, 2005 Copper coloured with a 1cm creamy off white head. Aroma is sweet, toasted malts, creamy caramel, vanilla, very nice, hope the taste matches it.
Almost, nice full, creamy mouthfeel, sweet at the start, slightly sour at the finish, nice maltiness throughout. Very nice. TAR (2011), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA Nov 20, 2002 The pour yields an absolutely beautiful creamy and rocky foam. Solid aroma of rubber, maraschino cherry, marshmallow, leather, pecan, candied malt (but in a manner I have never experiened), cotton candy, only a hint of alcohol, and fresh bread. Sits very softly and creamy on the palate. Moderatley complex flavors showcase cherry malt flavors, bread, and a metallic shade. The finish is rather long and chewy. One of the funnest and most unique Belgian Strongs I have had to date. Thanks, Silky! rauchbier (2877), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England May 20, 2003 Bottle conditioned. Amber, good rocky white head, nice lace and good condition. Excellent malt aromas lifted up on a breeze of alcohol, slight hint of coconut and caramel. Thick and chewy in the mouth with malty caramel, boiled sweets and malt whisky notes.Long long finish that is dry and slightly bitter. Supremely smooth and drinkable, but such a small bottle (250ml)! More a weak barley wine than an abbey beer.
Hildigöltur (5056), København Ø, Denmark Mar 18, 2003 Brown colour with a fine head. Delicious sweet malt aroma with spicy notes. The flavour is warming. Very full bodied and smooth. A truly complex and great brew.
