mjg74 (1867), La Mesa, California, USA Feb 29, 2008 Bottle from BevMo. Medium golden in color with a medium foamy white head. Sweet yeasty aroma with some spices and grains. A little bit of a cidery scent as well. Very dry spicy flavors up front. Somewhat metallic tasting. Doesn’t taste like most dubbels I’ve tried. Seems pretty one dimensional. Some bitterness in the finish.
tronraner (1481), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Nov 16, 2008 Bottle. Pours cloudy gold with soapy off-white head. The aroma is ripe mangos, mown hay, strawberry leaves, and peppery yeast. The flavor is dusty yeast, white pepper, mellow earthy hops. Fruitiness is there, but more subdued than in aroma. Zest and dark bread/toast in finish. Ok. rds (133), USA Oct 19, 2008 Pours think gold, with a persistent white foamy head. Almost devoid of aroma, with excessive carbonation, this was a a terrible disappointment whether it is supposed to be a dubbel--which is almost amusing--or Belgina ale. dwyerpg (2143), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Sep 14, 2008 I like this. Doesn’t look like a dubbel at all, since it’s very light in color. The flavor is enjoyable though. A bit of hops and bite. A little creamy. Good enough for me. Slepkov (16), Ithaca, Alabama, USA Aug 2, 2008 Pours a cloudy orangy-yellow with a thick, coarse, and prolonged head. On the nose is citrus grapefruit with some light spice and warm yeast and honey. Not as yeasty as most dubbles. Quite sweet with light carbonation. Sweetness sets this one apart, but it is not overdone. Mainly biscuits and honey with some light clove and some mineral sharpness. I am enjoying this very much, although others may find it too sweet. The 7.5% alcohol is hardly noticeable and is well ballanced. A triumph. Also has one of the most memorable and attractive caps out there. A real find! LinusStick (1596), Moon Township, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 28, 2008 Terrible beer and not classified correctly. This is far from a dubbel. Aroma was weak. Light malt but very weak. Pour was a hazy light gold with a thin white ring for a head. Taste was very sugary and sweet. Strong honey and biscuit with sweet light malt in the aftertaste. This could pass as sugar water with honey in it. Blah.
