Abbey style top fermentation beer. Colour: Amber colouring 35 EBC. Ingredients: Water, pale ale malt, caramel malt, aromatic malt, sugar, yeast, Kent hop, hallertau hop. Density: 9.5% ABV 19° Plato. Packaging: 33cl Apo bottle, 25l barrel. Drinking temperature: serve between 7 and 10° C. Storage: very long time under normal storage conditions. Taste comments: Its sweet and velvety aroma leads us to a pleasant hop and woody taste. It releases a very fine, bitter even smoky and alcoholised taste at the back of the mouth.

Semi-clear orange, off-white head. Nose is sugary, nutty, caramel, bread. Flavor is lots of malt and caramel, metallic notes, tons of sweetness. Finishes with boozy bitterness, lingering caramel and malt. Wow that’s a lot of sugar in this.

0,33L bottle (from Wine of Galilee), BB 2016. Pours dark amber with off white head. The head stays for a moment. Aroma is sweet, vinous, fruits, caramel, some alcohol. Flavor is very sweet and very bitter, caramel, a lots of alcohol. Finish is toffee bitter. Overall: I’m not a fan of very sweet, very bitter and very boozy brews. As it warms up, I like it less and less...

Draught @ Le Trappiste, Brugge. Pours slightly hazy amber with small off-white head. Clear, sweet aroma of caramel malt, yeast and fruit, with subtle hoppy touches. Sweet flavour of caramel malt with fruity notes and estery touches. Hints of hops and citrus but just that. Rough and estery finish. Well, I am definitely not a fan of Silly beers, but this one is actually okay; perhaps too sweet, though.

Classic Belgian-style barley wine since 1989. A peach blonde ale with off-white, not very stable head and caramelly malty character adorned with orange peel, almond, figues, cognac, herbal hops, warming alcohol in the finish. Overall a bit too sweet, even a bit cloying, but still a very tasty beer.

0.33L bottle. Pours a clear amber with a frothy white head. Mild cereal malt aromas, with yeast and hints of overripe fruit. Similar aroma profile to Leffa. Initial flavor is quite sweet, bubblegum and hints of caramel. Transitions quickly to a bitter, burnt sugar flavor (not unpleasant), finishes with a long, non-descript bitterness. Medium body with a creamy mouthfeel and mild carbonation. Overall, decent aromas, balanced enough between malt and bitterness, but nothing really stands out here either.
