JoeM500 (1877), Chicago (little italy), Illinois, USA Oct 3, 2002 Really deep copper, almost brown look with 3/4 inch of rocky, dense head. The nose is bursting with sweet fruits and roasted nuts. Starts out with an acidic bite that dissolves into a nice mixture of sweet and sour tastes that tickled my tongue.A doughy end lingers. Very refreshing... I’m finishing the last sip and all of the head remains. (this is the 5% version) A really great beer! yalnikim (664), Wellington, New Zealand Nov 14, 2007 Tasted 14/11/2007. 25cl bottle from Regional wines and Spirits. Pours bright, a reddish amber with large, long-lasting off-white head. Lovely aroma of toffee, old-fashioned oranges and a little spice. Delicate. Boiled sweets, toffee, and more of those oranges dominate the mouth up front. Mild bitterness and a nice little hint of peppery spice out back, with a fairly big hit of blood-like iron. Balanced beautifuly. Very different from the other Saisons I’ve tried. Silky smooth through the mouth, and well-balanced right through into after aftertaste. Another smooth operator from Silly. Sometimes I felt like George Orwell wrote a sentence just for me, and other times I feel like a beer has been brewed just for me... this one is nearly up there in that league - with Scotch Silly, Duchesse de Bourgogne and Liefman’s Goudenband. Better try it again, to be sure. lvdh (5), USA does not count May 8, 2008 Epoque Belgian Beer Café in Sydney. Nice foam and colour, smells cramel, malt and fruits. Very nice and well balanced. Thirst quenching. diabel (1209), Aarschot, Belgium Apr 29, 2007 3 years old 750ml bottle. Clear, amber body with an off-white, lightly yellow, rocky head. Very interesting aroma of flowers, malts (caramel), perfume, liquor, citrus, peach, apricots. Lightly sour, moderately bitter flavour. Quite nice fruity flavour, not tremendously complex but very well balanced. A very nice 5% saison. aceofhearts (1373), San Francisco, California, USA Nov 23, 2002 Amber, transluscent, long-lasting head. Very nice smell: faint strong-hop aroma, reminiscient of a USA west-coast IPA but not nearly as overbearing. Slight spiciness in the flavor combined with a very well-balanced sweet maltiness. Delightful complexity, excellent sweet finish. This rating is dedicated to my ex-girlfriend Suzy, who always called me a ’sillyhead’ in honor of this cute 5-year old voice that I can do.
