VENOM (941), Connecticut, USA Oct 2, 2002 Mostly clear yellowed straw. Thin, frothy stark white head. Centered carbonation. Mild aroma of German hops, faint herbal notes and Pils malts. Tepid crispness, bitter with pungent hop notes, clean and delicately sweet. A touch more bitter than expected. Lighter body and malt profile with a hint of cardboard. Long, bitter herbal hop aftertaste. Seems to be a Czech/German combo of hops. Fuller bodied as it warms, yet retains bitterness. Finishes drier, with minty notes and hints of juniper. An easy going thirst quencher. drpimento (534), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Jul 9, 2008 It starts out with a good white head with fine bubbles that slowly subsides. Has some lace. Beery aroma with some malt, and a bit of hops. Taste is similar to aroma, but more hop. Clear pale gold color. Pleasing clean, refreshing, bittersweet taste with good carbonation and body. Good balanced finish. A session beer. I went back for more. This is definitely my fav of the Romanian beers so far. Had this at The Restaurant Burebista Vana in Bucharest both on draft and from a bottle - draft was better. omhper (10950), Stockholm, Sweden May 3, 2007 Canned. Pale yellow, rich head. Dough aroma. Sweet and bready. Medium bodied and sugary with rather soft mouthfeel and low bitterness. Pretty good for a commercial lager. ElGaucho (1726), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Dec 22, 2005 Interesting that the ratings for this beer are almost exclusively by Ratebeerians with over 1,000 ratings. Can. Basic lager aroma. Clear gold, but like Ursus Premium, has some small floating particles that may be due to sitting around for 6 months. Lots of visible carbonation. Large, frothy, white head; mostly lasting. Wasn’t cold enough. Bland lager, but not bad. Has a more euro flavor than Ursus. Has some similarities in dry bitterness to Pilsner Urquell, but of course, not as good. Geiserich (1555), Vienna, Austria Apr 19, 2005 Quite sweetish, malty pils with grain notes and light notes of aroma hop, light bitter, light astringent finish. Not the worst pils i ever had.
