2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
500ml bottle and can. Deep reddish-brown body with a decent mocha head, surprisingly low retention for a dense beer like that. Sweet caramel aroma, coffee, toffee, spices, a hint of booze, delicious.
Taste is softened by a hint of burned sugar, caramel, roasted malt. Alcohol is not overwhelming, but there is some heat finish. Not as sweet as I remember it. Not bad, but I’ll prefer a Ursus Black.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2012 0.5 l bottle.
Dark burgundy colour.
Medium beige head.
Aroma has notes of caramel, yeast, grapefruit, fresh bread, sour cherry jam and alcohol.
Bittersweet taste, average carbonation and a medium body.
It’s ok, but if I drink more than two bottles, I have a headache. I don’t know why. But I say this from my experience.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml can. Beige foam on a medium, dark-ruby body, it is a strange beer. It has very smoky taste with some coffee and dried plum, also hop. You can feel strong sweetness especially at first gulps. I liked it!

500ml can -
First, a big thank you goes out to my buddy Brian for bringing me this back on his last trip to Romania. Those poor souls in Romania...ugh..some of the beers he’s brought back were good and others were just plain awful. This one was all that bad though. It suprised me with the level of hops that was found, with a bit of spicy hop note. The beer seemed overly attenuated, with a dry, chemical-like aftertaste. Almost no malt character, esp for a dunkel. Maybe the 7% comes from the extra sweetness that should be there? The beer looked like rusty rain water in my glass with a light tan frothy head.
