3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
From a bottle brought back from Romania a couple of months ago and kept chilled. One of the best beers from the region! Poured with a nice head and some lace. Color is like aged cherry wood. Roasty, malty, a bit of anise. full body. intriguing. a nice hint of alcohol. Great finish. no off flavors. Better than than their other beers.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Can (50 cl), thanks jhagmar. Clear copper, large beige head. Nutty and carmelly malt aroma with notes of burnt sugar, some salty roasted notes, and dusty hops. Dry with moderate bitterness. Quite good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Canned (Thanks TBone!). Deep rubyish amber colour with mediumsized beige head. Leaves quite nice lace. Aroma is raisins, syrup, caramel malts and some mild notes of sour wood. Flavour is slightly smoked wood, syrup, mild alcohol and some slight grassy dryness. Way better than I thought when I saw the can.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Thank you Tbone, for providing me with a new country! Can. Dark brown color. Molasses and apple syrup in the aroma. Sweet, grainy flavor with apple syrup, a hint of chocolate and caramel. Watery mouthfeel, yet medium bodied. This beer has quality problems.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle (thanks mom!). BB 01/01/2009. Deep amber-brown color with medium, slowly-diminishing, beige head. Malty and slightly bready aroma with some caramel and a bit of chocolate. Sweet caramelly flavor with some toastiness and a drier finish with some alcohol and light herbal notes. Medium-bodied with a quite carbonated mouthfeel. Could be really good without the alcohol taste in the finish but still tasty anyway.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Can, Diesel Bar, Cluj-Napoca. Very dark pouring, and an immediate hit of liquorice and caramel on the tongue. A strong beer but not overly strong tasting of alcohol. Long finish.

Can (BB 06/2009)
Chestnut brown color, small beige head. Alcoholic, caramelly, toasted nose. Caramelly rounded mouthfeel. Quite pleasant balance of alcohol, toasty malts and sweetness. This is a bit like Saku Tume. So far the best Romanian beer I’ve had.

2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap at Cerdul Carpati, Brasov. Nice brown body with a fair beige creamy head. Malty taste with caramel, fruity, and roasty hints. Taste, however, lacks complexity and is rather thin. Ends with a short bittersweet finish.

For me the caramel taste is perfect. No taste of any fruits there ... some comments speak about this :)
Its perfect for a sunset on mountain.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Ando brought back a shlew of Romanian beers from his recent European excursion. I’m told Romanian beer can be a real special treat. Here’s hoping!
Apperance: Pours a clear, dark brown body with a lush, fizzy off-white head.
Smell: Bready dark malt aroma of caramel and molasses. Hint of almonds.
Taste: Mild caramel and molasses flavors with a moderate sweetness. Again, there’s that hint of almond. There’s only a very vague hint of hops. Ultimately, the beer finishes pretty sweet.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: It’s okay, but so far the clear-cut winner of Romanian Beer Nite!
