IuliusAugusuts (4), , Romania does not count Jul 8, 2008 For me the caramel taste is perfect. No taste of any fruits there ... some comments speak about this :)
Its perfect for a sunset on mountain. iammarc (186), Inverness, Scotland Jul 27, 2008 Can, Diesel Bar, Cluj-Napoca. Very dark pouring, and an immediate hit of liquorice and caramel on the tongue. A strong beer but not overly strong tasting of alcohol. Long finish. oh6gdx (6460), Vaasa, Finland Aug 27, 2008 Canned (Thanks TBone!). Deep rubyish amber colour with mediumsized beige head. Leaves quite nice lace. Aroma is raisins, syrup, caramel malts and some mild notes of sour wood. Flavour is slightly smoked wood, syrup, mild alcohol and some slight grassy dryness. Way better than I thought when I saw the can. Sorlap (1), Mezőtúr, Hungary does not count Oct 4, 2005 It is not a black beer. Nice dark machogany color, and fizzy foam. Strong, fruity aroma. Light coffe in the background and strong sweet, fruity taste. JorisPPattyn (4638), Antwerpen, Belgium Aug 23, 2006 Dark mahogany beer; initial golden-yellow head, collapsing. Sweet caramelly, alcohol, bit of madeira/oxydation (BBD nowhere near!), bit of wood, dark leaves. Also some dark, sweet bread aroma. Outspoken dry, near bitterish taste, with bread and malt flavours. Some basic hops, and a bit apple-like flavour. Fleetingly, but very outspoken non-sweet licorice flavour. Rather light body, very dry. Aftertaste reverts to vinous, madeira-like impression. This is supposed to be a Belgian recipe. It doesn’t taste like one, but if the brewers claim it themselves, we have to believe them, of course. Anyway, it’s the best Romanian beer so far. Thanks to Romania-traveller Stef!
