(Draught) Sampled at Great Canadian Beer Festival in Victoria on September 5, 2008. Medium, smooth frothy beige head with an opaque body. Bourbon barrel aged stout. Lovely nose - somewhat medicinal but full of a zoo aroma. Bedding, cinnamon, bourbon. Great stuff. 7/3/8/4/15

Deep brown pour with tinges of red. Coffee, licourice, coffee and chocolate. Very chocolate flavor with a light bitter. Semi sweet coffeeness in this beer. A tad thin with very good carbonation and solid mouthfeel pretty good beer.

This has a big alcoholic aroma. Is this barrel aged? Some roast, but noticeable burn. Not as good as it could be.

Thanks to dickinsonbeer for sharing this... Appears a dark brown, nearing black with chestnut edges when held to the light. A small, dark tan head fades into a mild film and collar. Speckles of lacing are left like holes in a target after buck-shot penetrates it from a short distance. Smell is of roasted nuts, cocoa, brownies, vanilla, black grapes, and mild oxidation. Taste is of the same aromas with a touch of roasted grains and mild tartness. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied, chewy, roasty, and a bit thin on the finish.

2006 - On tap at Winter Beer Festival. Pours a dark black color with a small tan head on top. Aroma is full of dark fruits, roasted malts, chocolate, and coffee. Flavor dark fruits dipped in dark chocolate. Hints of alcohol come in but they are very toned down most likely by the additional age this keg had. Very tasty imperial stout.

Poured an opaque black color with a small, tan head that left very light lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, sweet chocolate, light dried fruits, char, and some alcohol as well. Taste of chocolate, roast, vanilla, charred malts, light smoke, with a bit of fruit, and alcohol in the finish.
