Aroma: oak, vanilla, chocolate, roastiness. Appearance: thick dark black/brown, tan head disspates quickly to ring. Taste: nice roast bitterness, coffee, rich but not overly sweet. Palate: soft carb, thick/slick, but not sticky, full-bodied. Nice lasting finish. Overall: solid imperial stout. I like what silver city does. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle... Pitch black pour with a small, brief head. The nose is a rich fudge-bomb - simple, but very nice. Full-bodied and chewy with modest carbonation. The flavor is roasty, burnt black malt with some caramel malt sweetness. Chocolaty, roasty finish. Bottle courtesy of biggsbowler!

Bottle (06/2013): Very dark brown in color with a decent brown head. Sort of fizzy and fades out quick, leaving behind a thin beige ring. Nose is heavy in roast, but sweet. Molasses, anise, and burnt sugars come to mind. Translates well into the taste with a bit more emphasis on the sweet side than on the roast. Has some dark fruits and a light floral hop presence that really helps the finish from being noticeably cloying. Good stuff, a traditional ‘meat and potatoes’ example of the American RIS.

Bottle. This is a pretty basic impy without much going for it beyond the usual.

What an imperial stout should aspire to. Excellent grain bill, tons of chocolate and coffee undertones. Hop bit is there and outstanding. Well done.

Bomber. Pitch black in appearance with a cap of mocha foam. Aroma is a blend of dark chocolate, brown sugar and espresso. The taste starts out strong on the roasted malt and bittersweet chocolate along with some coffee and caramel to round it out. Mouthfeel is moderately thick and creamy with a slightly charred, alcohol-warming finish. Smooth and flavorful for the most part.

Pours a rich dark black color with a nice java colored head. Nose is chocolate and malt. Taste is chocolate , coffee and malt. Finish is deep rich coffee with chocolate and a hint of alcohol, lingers moderately. Quaff Score 7 / 10

Pours black with a brown head and aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is sweet and burnt, of roasted malt, chocolate, and bitter coffee notes with a dry, burnt finish.

My Bottom Line:
Grape-y fruitiness slowly rises within this Imperial Stout’s wealthy dark chocolate and roast flavors, effortlessly leading to a resinous hop finale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A rich head of foam covers the darkness.
-Alcohol bites a bit in the back.
-Coniferous hop resins appear from aroma to finish.
-The mouthfeel is fluffy and rich.
-This is not trying to redefine the style. It is a very good, straightforward version of it.

On tap at Devil Craft, Tokyo.

Delicious and well-made impy stout. Rich chocolate flavors, smooth roasted notes, sweet burntness, coffee roast, grains and nuts. Balanced bitterness. Hidden alcohol; complex fruitiness in the background; along with a yeast ester accent. Overall, it’s very tasty; simple at first, but the more you sip, the more complex it becomes.

Black with tan creamy head. Chocolate fudge and port aroma. Rich chewy texture with coffee and dark fruit and an obvious kick. Healthy amount of hops and finishes with a layer of mocha.
