Gromit (450), Port Orchard, Washington, USA Dec 3, 2005 Mmm, very nice. This brewery couldn’t brew bad beer if they tried to -- thankfully they never will.
Pours motor-oil black with a mocha head that leaves a nice lace down the glass. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, and just a hint of hops.
Flavor is pure ImpStout. Chocolate/coffee/malt/dark fruits... only squared. Palate is think and creamy yet crisp; go figure. Nice mineral mouthfeel. It could have more of a bite to it, I guess, but it’s perfect for the brew.
Overall, I really don’t know how this could be any better. This is a fantastic beer. glkaiser (1017), Seattle, Washington, USA Apr 18, 2006 Pours like motor oil....nice and thick and black. Light brown head. Brown sugar and fig aroma. Very tasty...caramel tastes...chocolate...a little coffee....all the usual. Bitter finish. Very well done. I’ve liked Silver City’s beers enough to go find their brewpub I think.
tjthresh (1348), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Oct 22, 2006 22 ounce bottle. Opaque black with a brown head. Aromas of cappacino, chocolate, and some hops. More of the same in the flavor. Good and bitter. Rich on the palate. Really a nice beer. CaptainCougar (4687), Rockville, Maryland, USA Oct 11, 2004 Updated: Apr 24, 2006Rerate from 2005 bottle: Pours an opaque black with dark brown edges and a light brown head. Sweet toasty caramel and roasted malt aroma has some gingerbread cookie character and a touch of dark fruits. Body starts with a sweet sticky dark caramel and dark chocolate flavor amid a drier, mildly earthy lingering bitter roasted dark chocolate finish. Body thins some toward the finish, but is otherwise pretty full.

GABF 2004: Completely opaque with a light brown head. Aroma reminds me a lot of Samuel Smiths Imperial, but without the chocolate smoothness. Body has a nice malty sweetness and some dark fruit flavor, but not very much complexity and could hide its alcohol better. Otherwise, an enjoyable imperial stout. Ungstrup (11692), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 15, 2005 [At GABF 2004] A black beer with a disappearing brown head. The aroma is light, but contains notes of chocolate and coffee. The flavor is sweet with primary notes of chocolate, leading to a dry roasted end.
