Gromit (450), Port Orchard, Washington, USA Dec 3, 2005 Mmm, very nice. This brewery couldn’t brew bad beer if they tried to -- thankfully they never will.
Pours motor-oil black with a mocha head that leaves a nice lace down the glass. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, and just a hint of hops.
Flavor is pure ImpStout. Chocolate/coffee/malt/dark fruits... only squared. Palate is think and creamy yet crisp; go figure. Nice mineral mouthfeel. It could have more of a bite to it, I guess, but it’s perfect for the brew.
Overall, I really don’t know how this could be any better. This is a fantastic beer.
BillKismet (1476), Seattle, Washington, USA Dec 1, 2008 Rich, medium thickness cocoa grained head atop and otherworldly dark body. Wonderful robust, roast aroma and deep veins of chocolate. Good depth of roast flavors, some chocolate, bit of cherry cordial on the finish, mild to moderate bitterness. Very well apportioned and balanced for an imperial stout. Some oreo cookie notes toward the end. after4ever (1925), Brier, Washington, USA Nov 30, 2008 Draft at Uber. Ebony, nearly black, little caramel highlights here and there. Nice dense moussy bunt tan head that falls away rather too quickly. Kind of a cola and anise nose, but, somehow, rather dry versions of those two notes. Interesting. Creamy medium body, active carb. Mild flavors--some roast and chocolate, and rather subdued cola and anise notes. This is a really mild, easy drinking impy. The intensity and profile of flavors, along with the body and quaffability all really point to a plain old house stout, but the abv is obviously in a different realm. CapFlu (3353), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Sep 9, 2008 (Draught) Sampled at Great Canadian Beer Festival in Victoria on September 5, 2008. Medium, smooth frothy beige head with an opaque body. Bourbon barrel aged stout. Lovely nose - somewhat medicinal but full of a zoo aroma. Bedding, cinnamon, bourbon. Great stuff. 7/3/8/4/15 Enniskillen (1620), Port Angeles, Washington, USA Sep 7, 2008 Aroma has a heavy roastiness, chocolate, light alcohol. Taste is chocolate, bourbon, light alcohol and a nuttiness to it. decaturstevo (1335), decatur, Tennessee, USA Jul 30, 2008 Deep brown pour with tinges of red. Coffee, licourice, coffee and chocolate. Very chocolate flavor with a light bitter. Semi sweet coffeeness in this beer. A tad thin with very good carbonation and solid mouthfeel pretty good beer.
