kramer (1888), sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 15, 2008 22 oz bottle, via 5000. Pours a clear dark brown body with a one finger fizzy brown head that faded quickly to a thin ring. The nose is nutty and roasty with some light burnt notes, caramel, and some grassiness. The flavor is a little burnt and ashy for a Porter, with too much sweetness on the back end. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with some stickiness on the finish and moderate fizzy carbonation. Long lingering burnt notes. Overall, this just wasn’t my kind of Porter. Suttree (2336), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Dec 29, 2007 Black, with a beige head. Smells like coffee, with a touch of dark chocolate. The mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side. Flavor is coffee and iron, with a nice earthy note. Nicely flavorful, and very quaffable. after4ever (1752), Brier, Washington, USA Nov 26, 2007 22. Black. Thick, moussy tan head that falls away quickly to floating film. Thick, webby lace. Very light nose--some roast and ash and chocolate. But not much. Fairly light body, especially for a porter. Chocolate and roast on the mid-palate. This could definitely use some heft across the board--nose, body, flavor. But it’s flawless as far as beers of incredibly mild-mannered profiles go. Clean finish. Nice stuff. Maybe better when it warms up. SuzyGreenberg (1028), Seattle, Washington, USA Nov 24, 2007 22 oz. bottle - dark black in the middle and slight red on the issues; tan head with roasted coffee aromas; drinks smooth and rich with very mild hops Indiana_Red (1470), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 19, 2006 <!-- B -->Bottle<!-- /B --> labeled only as "Porter" pours a very dark opaque brown. Nice creamy tan head and lasting heavy lacing. Mostly chocolate and meduim dark roast aroma. Flavor is very roasty and charcoaly, but not very bitter or strong. Quite thin and even watery feel. Late slightly bitter sour flavor that is common with the style. Overall tasty but I like al heavier palate.
