3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Everything Silver City makes seems to make me smile, and this was no exception. Although I am not a huge fan of reds, this one played the part well. A notable carmel sweetness and a bright red glow; this guy is very sessionable for late spring, early summer days. If more reds were lilke this, I might have had a different preconceived notion on the genre. Woo hoo!

On tap at the brewpub.
Clear deep amber colour. Sweet malty caramel aroma, brown sugar, toffee, a very faint dose of earthiness as well. Flavour is quite sweet and nutty up front with a bit of herbal and spice toward the finish. A bit too sweet for my tastes.

Light, vaguely caramelly aroma. Dark amber hue. Very sweet, sort of a light cherry note...where they drink amber ale and it tastes just like cherry cola. Malts are toned down, sweet and alt-ish, but ultimately this is too sweet to win my favour. Iíd struggle with a pint.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cloudy orange with a white head. Very fruity citrus hops in the aroma with a touch of sweetness trying to show behind it. Very hoppy amber with a very fruity hop finish, kinda wet hop taste that kinda reminds me of cantalope. Very light on the palate, but still refreshing.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Goodness, I didnít get the swell growler of this, only the bomber. Andreís bottle looks cooler.
Pours an almost mahogany color with a thin head that doesnít leave too much lace, but some.
Aroma is strong even though Iím just getting over a cold. Sweet like an Amber with with a slight pine/hop presence and a little...bready?
Flavor is great. Amber is one of my least liked styles and I like what SC has done with this. Lots of malt but itís well balanced with the hops. Due to the aforementioned cold I canít detect too many details but this is complex with caramel and some definite darker fruits in there.
Palate is full and on the crisp side. Overall this is really good and worth the drive over to this side of the Puget Sound to sample. Nicely done.

UPDATED: JUN 21, 2005 Bottle pours deep amber, slightly hazy, small cream colored head, fantastic lacing, with minor carbonation. † Malts on the nose, quite biscuity. † Forwardly malty, rather smooth and sweet too. † WOW, this is really tasty! † Medium body, velvety mouthfeel, with a crisp clean finish. † This is one smooth and easy to drink amber... a nice malty flavor, slightly sweet, maybe a bit nutty... just superb! † A bit light, but as a summer seasonal it fits perfectly!
