2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draught at Kokopelli, Port Angeles
Dark amber color with creamy head. It’s just about the color, because it doesn’t have much aroma, not much flavor, and low bitterness.

Light, vaguely caramelly aroma. Dark amber hue. Very sweet, sort of a light cherry note...where they drink amber ale and it tastes just like cherry cola. Malts are toned down, sweet and alt-ish, but ultimately this is too sweet to win my favour. I’d struggle with a pint.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours copper with a bubbly beige head. Aroma is sweetish caramel. Med body. Flavor starts like cola. Not very bitter. Makes me think of marzen. Does finish more bitter than not.

Clear deep amber colour. Sweet malty caramel aroma, brown sugar, toffee, a very faint dose of earthiness as well. Flavour is quite sweet and nutty up front with a bit of herbal and spice toward the finish. A bit too sweet for my tastes.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUN 21, 2005 Bottle pours deep amber, slightly hazy, small cream colored head, fantastic lacing, with minor carbonation. Malts on the nose, quite biscuity. Forwardly malty, rather smooth and sweet too. WOW, this is really tasty! Medium body, velvety mouthfeel, with a crisp clean finish. This is one smooth and easy to drink amber... a nice malty flavor, slightly sweet, maybe a bit nutty... just superb! A bit light, but as a summer seasonal it fits perfectly!

22. Grainy, hazy opaque dark amber with bright rubied highlights. Light tan sudsy film and lace. Sweet bready nose with minimal differentiation. Light body with slight carb and not much else happening on the attack. Mid-palate opens up without too much fanfare and carries through with light caramel and brown bread happening. Bit of a disappointment, really. Clean finish. The whole thing is really not very interruptive.

Bottle from Ballard Market. 21st rating of this brew. Drank while watching the Sounders game with my buddies at their place in Ballard. Light toasty aroma with some caramel malts and that was about it. Pours amber with a thin lasting foamy head. Toasty, lightly sweet caramel malt notes, and some crisp unobtrusive hops. Just kind of toned down and ’regular’, but it is an amber ale, so what more can they do with it in all reality. Well made, just nothing spectacular to rave about. Gotta appreciate consistency and the fact that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the beer. Good session amber.
