Oakes (7030), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Nov 22, 2005 On tap at the brewpub
Light, vaguely caramelly aroma. Dark amber hue. Very sweet, sort of a light cherry note...where they drink amber ale and it tastes just like cherry cola. Malts are toned down, sweet and alt-ish, but ultimately this is too sweet to win my favour. I’d struggle with a pint. BückDich (4603), Boise, Idaho, USA Apr 9, 2008 Tap @ Brewery: Auburn, light head, great lacing. Nose of light caramel and grass. Subtle yeast and some caramelly malt esters. Light fruit in the tail, dry finish. Blah. JoeMcPhee (3899), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Nov 23, 2005 On tap at the brewpub.
Clear deep amber colour. Sweet malty caramel aroma, brown sugar, toffee, a very faint dose of earthiness as well. Flavour is quite sweet and nutty up front with a bit of herbal and spice toward the finish. A bit too sweet for my tastes. CapFlu (3353), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Sep 9, 2008 (Draught) Sampled at the Great Canadian Beer Festival 2008 in Victoria, September 7. Pours an amber body with a thin, white frothy head. Nose is very floral. Mild malt base with a flowery hop top. Good. DA (2586), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Jul 26, 2005 Cloudy orange with a white head. Very fruity citrus hops in the aroma with a touch of sweetness trying to show behind it. Very hoppy amber with a very fruity hop finish, kinda wet hop taste that kinda reminds me of cantalope. Very light on the palate, but still refreshing.
