3.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JAN 4, 2013 Serving: from tap at Schultzy’s Sausage.
Aroma: lightly hoppy.
Appearance: average-sized, frothy, white, initial head with fully diminishing longevity and fair lacing. Clear, flat-looking, amber body.
Taste: moderately bitter initial taste with moderately bitter finish and long duration.
Palate: medium-bodied with watery texture and soft carbonation.
Overall: Exceptional IPA. Just enough hops to get the right aroma and flavor without being overpowering and overly bitter. Look forward to drinking this again.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This beer was shared with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. Pours an amber color with a creamy off-white head that pillowed and left lots of lacing rings. Nose of of stone fruit and floral hops. Body is medium. Mouth feel smooth . Flavor shows lots of the fruit, mostly nectarine Floral hops and some orange zest. Grapefruit maybe. But maybe not. Some bitterness in the finish. Really classic west coast IPA. Easy drinking. Lots of flavor. Lots to like. .

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber from Hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. A big off white head that slowly falls and leaves sticky lacing. A bit of haze in this coppery beer. Citrus and tropical fruit in the aroma are nice. Some caramel. There is all kinds of tropical fruit in here. Pineapple, nectarine, tangerine and mango. Caramel malts with some bread. The fruit reigns here and is very nice. Orange zest and grapefruit. This is sweet and fruity. And very tasty. Good stuff.

Draft to taster
Sweet caramel, grapefruit, and some hops. Clear amber with a touch of amber, creamy white head, with nice lacing. Taste is citrus, mostly grapefruit, but with a mix of other sweeter citrus, and it’s quite hoppy.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a coppery orange, bordering on amber with a nice thick and dense off-white head. Immediate malt based aromas of munich and medium caramel malts are followed by a very familiar grapefruit and orange citrus aroma, slightly floral background. Tastes caramel-sweet and toasty, with a slight nod to irish red ale yet also a bit of malt esters like a lot of German ales. The hops are simple and straightforward and supply a balanced bitterness. Body comes across on the heavier side for an IPA. A filling beer and the alcohol sneaks up on you. The cause is also a good thing.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draught at the Great Japan Beer Festival in Osaka (7/13/2013). Big citrus, grapefruit mostly, nose. Mild citrus and solid malty flavors. Weak, watery body. Okay, I guess. But not really so impressive.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at the GJBF Osaka. Classic kind of copper gold color to this IPA, the aroma is kind of pine, mild funk, citrus-a really floral bouquet. Interesting stuff, very clean taste with mostly a biting bitterness. A top quality though slightly one dimensional IPA (the only American PA on tap at the fest), very bitter. I really like the aroma though the flavor isn’t as complex. Solidly made beer, well done but not my style. Well executed.
