For all purposes, this brew is black and sporting a deep caramel head. Smooth roastyness slips off the glass in cool fragrant pools. Tightly wound flavors reward you for staying with them in focused concentration. They finally seep through in waves of chocolate, fig, cherry juice.

Draught at Malt & Vine, Redmond, 9.9% ABV
Dark brown color with creamy head. The aroma is a bit yeasty and ashy. Good body strength, sweet, with strong caramel flavor, and correct bitterness.
Straight-forward beer, but good.

Draft at Uber. Got to one before after4ever - you’re slipping man! Ruby pour , creamy khaki head. Aroma: cotton candy and bubble gum, mostly. Some cherries I guess. Taste brings some tannic astringency, oak and vanilla (all riding on the back of the bubblegum and cotton candy). Sweet. Full body, slick oily texture. Overall: wine barrels don’t really come across that strongly to me, but final product is a nice Belgian strong dark.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aged in Tempranillo wine barrels, this ale has a very intriguing underpinning which is rather more earthy and savory than sweet, and reminiscent of leather and fresh tobacco leaves. These flavors blend nicely with the notes of chocolate, fig, date raisin, prune, imparted by the blend of malts, and banana, and clove esters contributed by the Belgian yeast.

Fruity flavored. Not really my taste, but very drinkable none the less. I have been trying to expand my horizons, and don’t normally drink Belgians, but this one is fairly good.

Bottle. Pours a clear brown color with a small tan head on there. Nose had some slight elements of the Belgian yeast to it, with some dark wine elements as well; very subtle and well-played. Taste is slightly sweet, with some earthy and slight toast notes coming through. Very smooth and nice.
