A blend of five different German and domestic malts lend a deep, rich color and mild roast character to this classic lager. Silver City stores Winter Bock for five weeks at near freezing temperature, allowing it to mellow and become more refined with each passing day Alcohol By Volume: 7% Hops: Nugget, Hersbrucker, Saaz Malts: Pilsner malt, NW Pale, Munich, Caramel, Chocolate, & Carafa IBUís: 22 2011 North American Beer Awards- Gold Medal Winner 2008 North American Beer Awards- Silver Medal Winner 2007 North American Beer Awards- Bronze Medal Winner 2005 North American Beer Awards- Silver Medal Winner

Pours a reddish copper color with a thin white head that leaves spotty lacing. Smells of roasted malt, caramel, and slight chocolate. Tastes of all the same things and slightly hoppy for a bock. Mouthfeel is medium and creamy with good carbonation. Overall this was pretty mediocre for a winter seasonal and Iím surprised Silver city with their reputation brews this year after year instead of brewing something new and better.

Number 3 in the same blind tasting described by the raters below me. Pours relatively light compared to the others, with plentiful red highlights. Lightly fruity aroma. The beer is gently sweet, with caramel notes. Nothing special.

Bomber; beer #3 in a doppelbock blind tasting (even though this is a Dunkler bock on here but whatís the difference).

This began the train of amber-copper colored beers. This was basically a bigger amber in my mind, canít even tell its a lager. I even get a little bit of fruit esters. But the biggest give away about this beer is there is a definite American hoppiness (nondeScript) that none of the other beers in the tasting had. Worst example of bock, period.

Bottle, pours a clear orange amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted nuts, some mild dark fruits, and a touch of wood. Flavour brings out notes of chestnut and mild dark fruits. Well-balanced and cohesive. A nice drinking doppelbock.

Bottle. Pours a clear brown color with a moderate light tan head on there. Nose is bready with just a bit of toffee in there for me. Taste is a little sweet, with a bit of a toasty bitter back end. OK.

On Tap at the Silverdale BP Clear deep chestnut brown, with a small coarse head. Toatested caramel malt aroma, I think the very cold serving temp muted this a bit. Great flavors of light roast, brown ale and some honey/wheat toast notes. Decent IBU bite at the end. A nice winter beer.

Bomber. Two more styles to go - glad I found a local example, and also happy to support Silver City. Pours dark ruby-brown; clear, small ring of bubbles. Aroma: chocolate after it sits in the glass for a bit. Initially itís all biscuit and fruity. Almost vinous. Taste: layers of malts unfold, bringing toffee and plums in addition to the aforementioned aromas. Not particularly sweet, with a pleasant, dry finish complete with warmth from the alcohol. A winter bock indeed. Medium body, slick texture, carbonation is average but a bit prickly. Overall: no idea what sets this style apart from other bocks, but Iím glad this style quest pushed me to this beer.

New to this style so I cannot compare it to others. Strong roasted malt notes, with a hint of hops and some smokiness. I find it quite pleasant! B+ ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Rated on 3-21-2013 (Bottle from LetsPour.com) This beer pours a small creamy, smooth ivory head that mostly diminished, transparent body, no lacing, lively, fast rising carbonation, and a copper hue. The Aroma is malty, caramel, hops, lightly roasty, sweet, and dark fruits. The Taste is sweet, malty, caramel, mildly hoppy, and has a dry finish. The Palate is bubbly and this is a light-medium beer. Overall, this beer is quaffable, easy to drink and a beer I would drink again.
