On tap at Burnhearts. Ruddy mahogany with a medium beige crown and some lacing. Aroma of wheat, caramel, toffee with some light rye, dough, grains and sweet malt. Taste is sweet with wheat, rye, toffee, toasted malt and nuts. Pretty good and sweet throughout.

On draught at the Silver Creek brewpub in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. Pours a hazy burnt brown colored brew with a fast dissipating beige head that leaves behind minimal lacing and a thin off-white ring. Aroma of old cellar-like malt, a hint of doppelbock yeast, a touch of caramel and floral hops. Taste is medium bodied, flavors of toasted caramel malt, a hint of rye, and a brief spiced hop. Finish is semi-dry, a little alcohol presence with a light mild doppelbock profile finish.

Tap at Silver Creek. Thick unfiltered brown, slow rising carbonation bubbles inside. Frothy beige head. Quite delicious, sort of a unique take on a Dunkelweizen or Weizenbock even. Thick, sweet malt tones, some chocolate banana as well. Rich and yeasty, smooth on the palate. Doughy, luscious malt tones. A really well done beer, the rye is well incorporated and doesnít stand out too much.

Draft at the source. Hazy red-brown pour with yellowish-tan head. Nose has some faint, skunky citrus and grapefruit hopping with soft caramel malt, toffee, spicy rye malt, and toasted biscuit. Flavor follows suit nicely with somewhat sticky rye malt spice, toffee, and toasted malt fading to skunky citrus and grapefruit bitterness. Nice residual grapefruit/citrus bitterness with more toffee and toast. Rye shows nicely, but donít catch the wheat other than the hazy, protein appearance. Not sure on the ABV, but this is tastes like a wonderful barley wine to me. No booze apparent. Nice big mouthfeel. Clean as hell. Reminded me a bit of their Vintage, but taken to a higher level. This one is a delight. Get it before itís gone.
