bboeckl (115), Grafton, Wisconsin, USA Mar 4, 2007 Updated: May 13, 2007On tap at Silver Creek Brewery. This beer needs to be warmed up to appreciate it’s full flavor. Folks at Silver Creek will be more than happy to oblige. Poured a deep dark opaque brown. Small light brown head dissappated after a few minutes. Chocolatey sweet aroma was just a hint of what was to come. Taste was that of thick rich dark chocolate with bits of carmel, nuts, raisens, plums--heavenly! Every thick rich sip is to be savored. If there is a better Baltic Porter out there, then I haven’t had it! esjaygee (918), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Oct 12, 2008 On tap at Silver Creek Brewpub. Served a little too chilled in a snifter, so I had an Oktoberfest to kill the time until this one warmed up a bit. And when it did warm up, I was blown away by it. Dark brown with a slowly dissipating tan head. Aroma of roasted and dark and roasted malt, fruit, chocolate and sugar. Taste of chocolate, roasted malt, plum/cherry, wood, caramel, sugar and light coffee. It seems every time I have a Baltic Porter I am in for something different and this one was no exception. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and would (will) make the half hour trip to Cedarburg again in the near future. Skyview (3060), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jul 23, 2007 Sampled on draught at the brewpub in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thick and creamy off-white head that slowly dissolves to a fine film and ring. Aroma of light roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and some flowery/grassy hops. Taste is heavy (full bodied), sweet with very little carbonation, with dark chocolate and molasses flavors. Finish is smooth, creamy with a slight dark malt flavor. DavidP (1719), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA May 20, 2007 Tap. Sweet raisin and chocolate syrup aroma with a roasty bite. Black body under a dark tan head. Smooth dark chocolate, plum and coffee bean in teh flavor. Smooth, velvety mouthfeel. Wraps up with raisin and espresso. A wonderfully fruity, sweet espresso-like porter. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Apr 17, 2006 Tulip at brewpub. Nice frothy tan head. Dark cola body.
Aroma has licorice, roast wood, grape jam.
Nice sticky roasty licorice flavor, stale wet wood, odd un-porter like sweetness (but good, maybe a baltic porter?). Honey? Earthy hops with roasty and slight coffee in the finish.
This is a great beer… a nice introduction to Silver Creek.
