Hazy copper coloured body with a lighter amber and bronzish glow with a thick, five centimetre tall tan head - nice, actually! Aroma of fresh grapefruity and piney hops with a bit of resin and some nice sugars and malt finishing up the nose - mouth watering and very cascadey and PNWy hops. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and herbal hops up front that fade a bit soon afterwards, but reassert themselves at the tail end with some resiny notes, all in the middle with a good malt backbone, a hint of sugars and a little grassy and herbal complexity. Aftertaste is nice and bittering from the hops and not in a horribly pungent way, but the flavours abound are very nice and show greatly. I love the choice and nature of these beers and how readily available they are in PNW - this is another fine example of a beer that I wish I could get all the time here at home, but it’s a few hours away by plane to grab a bunch then return. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 28-February-2012 for US$4.15 sampled at home in Washington (the real Washington - not the next-door neighbour of Oregon) on 15-July-2012.

This is a tasty staight forward bitter IPA at a good price. Excellent flavor and well crafted. Very fresh tasting.

maekchu (1090) - Hirakata, JAPAN - AUG 28, 2012
Draught at Bailey’s Taproom, Portland. Good citrusy, grapefruit aroma with a touch of manure. Gold/straw color, big creamy head, lots of carb. Solid balanced initial; hops rise into the nose in mid palate; juicy, lemony finish. Medium-thick body. Very creamy, like a light beer pudding or a hoppy meringue. Very good stuff.

Bottle, shared with Parksy. Orange amber, generous off-white head, some early sticky lace. Aroma is orange peel and light pine. Sweet malt, nice orangey hop character, again light pine, nice bitter finish. I’m not sure why this is rated low for the style. I really thought it was a solid IPA.

Bottle. Dark amber. Thin head. Nice hop aroma with plenty of grapefruit. Strong hop flavour. Starts out medicinal, plenty of grapefruit in the middle and a bit of woody roughness and resiny in the finish. Long hop aftertaste. Seems a little unpolished but that may add to its interest.

22. Pours a murky burnished dark amber. Loose whitish head after a good early surge. Not much lace. Tropical fruit nose, some mango and pineapple in there with some grapefruit. Creamy medium body, lively carb. Caramel, mango, and grapefruit mid palate mild resinous finish. A pleasing and easily drinkable IPA.

hayduke (2933) - Eureka, California, USA - APR 18, 2009
From a 22 oz bottle this poured an ever so slightly hazy light orange with a very robust white head and good rich lacing rings. Nose is floral, pine, and citrus hops on top of a caramel malt backbone. Very slick mouthfeel. Flavor is bitter with citrus hops dominating. The finish is bitter and the final mouthfeel is slick and nicely bitter.. Overall a very well made and highly drinkable IPA.
