Tap at Silver Moon. Pours a clear light orange with ridiculous lacing. Nose is dense sugar, sweat, caramel, toffee, fresh kumquat. Taste is sweaty, dusty, papery, light melon. Palate is way cardboardy, newspaper. Oxidized or stale keg?

On draught at 2013 Portland Fresh Hop Beer Fest. Full golden color. Aroma is tropical fruit. Taste is caramel, spicy passionfruit, guava, citrus, with light malt. Finishes both sweet and tart.

22oz brought from Oregon. Sampled 10/28/11. Pours orange with nice pillowy white head. Aroma is certainly big fresh raw hops; bits of pine, citrus and earthiness. Taste is much the same with a good malt backbone. Sometimes these fresh hop brews almost come off medicinal if not properly done with a good malt backbone, but this one comes off as truly fresh. Nice.

Bomber from Made in Oregon. Pours hazy, opaque amber with a slight beige head. Huge fruit/floral aroma. Med + body. Flavor is slight caramel and some slightly spicy fruit with floral. Finishes that way and oh most definitely bitter. Imagine me making yummy sounds (credit to Mel Brooks). If you have a chance for this, well, never turn down a good thing (credit to Starship Troopers).

Growlers served in a tulip. Pours clear amber-orange with a medium-large fluffy head. Good retention and frothy lacing. Aroma is grassy and floral: big time. Thereís also some orange citrus and earthy funk. Overall, very green. Flavor is bitter and shows more green-ness and lemon. Medium light body, average carbonation, oily-creamy texture, and an very oily, very bitter lasting finish. This is quality through and through.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2012 lightly hazed amber body with a quickly dissipating white head. butter, nuts, crackers, body odor and oxidized caramel. medium-light body. syrupy, goopy texture with a flabby finish of sour almonds and olive oil. horrible.

22. Pours a murky burnished dark amber with a dense creamy white head that falls before long to nothing but lace. Nice bright pine and grapefruit nose. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Toast, nuts, caramel, pine, and grapefruit on the mid palate. How many times does that sentence apply to a decent-to-pretty-great IPA or DIPA? Dozens? Maybe a hundred or more? Well, alright. Thatís fine. Itís a crowded style for a reason--always in style, always sounds good. No problem that there are fewer and fewer ways every year to really stand out. Iíll just keep drinking íem. Strong resiny pine finish. Nice little IPA. Is it a hop juggernaut by west coast standards, or any standards? Maybe not so much. Things are getting to the point now that ya gotta shovel in sacks of wet hops just to be a good IPA, and think about going for king of the hill next time. Itís like Glengarry Glen Ross or something.

Love me some fresh hop IPA. Clear dark caramel on the glass, creamy white head. Little iced tea on the nose, and all of these cascade hops come across as a bit piney and earthy. Too much crystal malt here, not enough hops. Even if this was bottled 6 weeks ago, Iíd be surprised that the hops would have fallen off this much. Lots of iced tea, little dried hops in the finish.
