Dark brown beer with an off-white head. Roasted malt, coffee aroma with some yeast. Roasty, slight coffee flavor with good yeastiness. Lingering yeast, sweet malt, and some darker malts. Slightly astringent, but on in background. A bit too much roast for an abbey dubbel - agree on the dubble/porter or dubbel/stout hybrid rather than a straight forward dubbel.

Jan 16, 2007 Great dubbel here. Has a ton of roasted grain flavors and aromas. Think something of a hybrid between a typical dubbel and a porter... Very complex. A great beer.

Jan 22, 2003 Tap @ brewpub. A dark brown color with a well maintained brown head. Sweet, nutty, and malty flavors. A little dark fruit (plums, raisins) and spice (ginger). The alcohol is well hidden.
