rmussman (688), California, USA Feb 18, 2008 Sampled at the brewhouse. A very very nice brew served in a tulip glass. Has a hazy tan color with a very sweet aroma. It has a lot of flavor with some fruity undertones. Certainly the best of the best that I tried at the brewhouse. Worth a sample if its around. hapjydeuce (561), Carlsbad, California, USA Feb 3, 2008 On tap at the brewery in St. Helena. Initial pour into a tulip yields a nice rocky white head and a hazy brilliant yellow appearance. Sweet, sugary aroma of light citrus, pear and Belgian-style yeasts. Syrupy mouthfeel and the flavor was a letdown. Overly sweet with a blast of fruit esters that brings about a nose similar to cleaning fluids. Modest amount of bitterness, but the balance on this one is off the charts. It could be rather enjoyable with some more work. oj_clark (69), Santa Monica, California, USA Jan 2, 2008 12/30/07 from sample glass at brewery. Yellow-gold and hazy with some off-white head lingering around the edge of the glass. Sweet aroma with typical Belgian yeast phenolics and fruity esters. Very sweet with some nice Belgian fermentation character. Faint bitterness does not balance out the sweetness. Medium-full body with a long, sweet, sticky finish. Ale_Drinker (1072), Sunnyvale, California, USA Jan 16, 2007 This beer has a nice potent belgian aroma. But after that everything just goes down hill. The beer just had way too much sugar in it. Cloyingly sweet. And the mouthfeel was just thick and syrupy so you could never really get that ridiculously sweet taste out of your mouth. Their only beer that I didn’t care for. bb (2088), Martinez, California, USA Feb 13, 2006 Draft. Golden beer with a thin white head. Nice estery aroma with some spice and malt. Seet base flavor with lots of spice and fruit (orange and summer). Full bodied. Nice complexity. Has a lot of sweetness. Not the type of tripel I normally like (prefer a bit drier), but this pulled it off despite the sweetness and big fruitiness.
