IPA riche et désaltérante misant sur un houblonnage typiquement américain basé sur le houblon Cascade spécialement aromatique, très citronné, très agrume; puissant et rafraîchissant. Type: India Pale Ale américaine. 66 IBU

A nice IPA though with a fairly malty taste that negates a bit of the bitterness that one associates with IPA. I find it well balanced but can also understand why some reviewers were disappointed not to have a more hops dominated flavour.

341 mL bottle from Dépanneur Simon Anthony, served in a plastic cup. Pours clear amber with a medium frothy off-white head. The head has good retention and leaves great lace. The nose is rather simple, with flowers, pine, roasted grain and a hint of citrus. The flavour begins moderately bitter and slightly sweet, but becomes strongly bitter before the finish The finish is long and hoppy. On the palate, it is medium in body with a milky texture and average carbonation. Overall, this is a decent IPA, but not one to write home about. It is quite well balanced and surprisingly roasty. The aroma is a bit subdued. Closer in spirit to the British than the American IPA. 2010-09-04

Bottle at Max’s. Pours amber with white head. Nose and taste of caramel malts, hops and white pepper. A little too malty.

341ml bottle? Poured a clear copper color with a medium sized head - dissipates to thin, but lasting white head. Aroma is grassy, notes of hops, slightly sweet and mild malts. Flavor was hoppy, with a well balanced malt. Straightforward brew.

Pours golden-to-copper, form a small, frothy head. Good lacing, though. Intense c-hops aroma, with really few caramel in the way. Taste is a bit more herbal than expected, though it’s still dominated by citrus hops. Quite thick. Wouldn’t call it a must amongst IPA, but it’s certainly a success. Great balance between malt and hops.

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2014 Bouteille 341 ml. 6.4%. Couleur ambrée, mousse beige pâle. Arômes de houblon et caramel et herbes fraîches. Goût de houblon et de citron en raison du houblon Cascade et caramel. Finale amère et sucrée.. Excellente qualité.

Well, this FINALLY made it to my town. 341 mL bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear amber color with a medium offwhite head. Fair head retention and good lacing. Aroma of caramel with citrus and herbal hop notes. The taste is citrus hops with an herbal bite, nutty notes and caramel malts. Medium bodied.

Aroma : Lots of pine and citrus from the Cascade hops. Maybe a little caramel thrown in. Somehow, it smells a little metallic but not to the point of being unpleasant. Appearance : Beer is clear, orange amber. About an inch of brownish foam that slowly dissipates and leaves little lacing. Taste : A little fruity. Well balanced. The piney and citrusy hops shine throught but it’s still not too bitter. I can still taste the metallic taste but it disappears as the beer warms. Mouthfeel : Carbonation is good and the beer is thick enough. Overall : A great effort from Simple Malt. Not the best IPA around but a decent and fairly refreshing one that I quite enjoy drinking.
