The smokyness is not so obvious in the aroma but is pretty invading in the taste. Seems like a smoked porter but the chocolate and torrefied malt that one usually finds in a porter is clouded by that nevertheless quality sweet smoked-malt intensity. An at first discreet touch of hops also slowly makes its way through the smokyness, to become more and more obvious in the aftertaste. Not bad but very (too?) smokey porter.

Pours a medium brown with a thin tan head. A light creamy body intertwined with a balanced acrid bite. Smoked malt an a touch of oak . No heat as the alcohol is well hidden in the light haze of smoke. Merci Martin! punkska101 (123), Chambly, Quebec, Canada

Pours a black body with a tan creamy head. Smoked malt, peat, some mineral chocolate tones. Like a smoked porter. Char, campfire, liquid smoke, and some light caramel tones amongst the peat y mouth feel. Thick and roast y reminds me of BBQ, campfire ash, and wood burning stoves. Smoky robust, an excellent porter. I could knock these back for hours on end. presario (3010), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 28, 2009 Bottle. Dark brown. Light head. One dimensional smoke aroma with a burnt tin sourness. Tastes better than the aroma. Dark malt porter up front giving way to the smoke flavour. I think that I like the first half porter more than the smoke flavour all the smoke grows on you a bit through the beer. I think the Porter underneath would be a good pub pint. The smoke does not improve the beer for me. beerbuzzmontreal (2946), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 28, 2009 Pours a dark brown color with a medium light brown head. Interesting aroma of smoked malt and roasted malt. The flavor has a beechwood smoke and peated malt combo along with some roastyness. The body is medium with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Very good. hershiser2 (923), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Didn’t pay too much attention to the French on the label until I whiffed this one and caught a nose of gentle smoke. Yup, a smoked porter here! Deep brown, slight head. Flavor is milk chocolate with a smoke finish. Smoke is quite distinct, but not overpowering, while still hinting at bacon. Not bad at all. robinvboyer (1444), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 21, 2009 Pretty light bien pour, aroma of bacon, soy, sausages, and loads of smoke. Great flavor of smoke and smoked meat. This beer is like a meal a great example of the style.
