COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ode aux malts fumés. Sa spirale maltée sucrée, où s’entrecroisent caramel, tire d’érable et soupçon de mélasse, est fidèlement soutenue par l’apport de la fumée du bois d’hêtre.

roasty, earthy, smoke, resin, Massive is the key word as in undoublty the most smokey beer ever. It’s like drinking by the fireplace. Nice on a cold winter night

341 ml bottle. Pours a deep black with a thin dark head. Smells of dry wood. Tastes of roasted malt, wood, brown sugar, caramel and a hint of milk chocolate.A nice smokey, roasted and, do I also taste...maple finish? Body is VERY thick and oily, each gulp feels like a satisfying mouthful. Carbonation is just perfect. Definitely a classic!

Bouteille de 341ml, robe d’un brun assez foncé et opaque, arôme de sucre et de fumée, goût de cassonade, de tir st-Catherine et de fumée!

Thanks to Aaron for sharing - sweet baby Jesus this beer smells fucking amazing! - hefty, meaty campfire smoke, roasted marshmallow, peat, whiskey, chocolate - a tiny bit of astringency keeps it out of 10 territory - flavor is semi-dry, nutty, with chocolate, bitterness, char - intensely smoky, but despite this, only a mild bit of astringency creeps in (the one downfall of a good smoked beer) - some peaty/whiskey notes - very dry finish, with long-lingering smoke - love it.

Bottle. Deep brown-black pour with a thin tan head. The aroma is a little bit sweet and sticky. A roasted dark malt character along with a touch of sweet smokiness and some rich bittersweet chocolate character. There is a heavy earthy bitterness along with the roast and smoke. Great balance of soft roast and smoke with a soft cocoaish sweetness through the middle of the palate. Oily and rich and very tasty. I’m a fan.

Sample courtesy of jcwattsrugger. Pours dark caramel brown with thin white head. The aroma is full smokiness mixing with rich sweet malts and chocolate creating a cool deep rich sweet smokiness with smoldering oak and cedar around the edges. The taste is rich with sweet malts, some rich dark fruity esters, a touch of dark roasted malts, some chocolate and plenty of smoky goodness. It ends with lingering nectar sweet malts and some lingering smoke. Full rich yummy brew.

This beer doesn’t like head. Aroma is extremely similar to Calumet- Heavy smoke and roast, molasses. Some warmth from the alcohol. Taste is a unique beast; more stout-like due to the roast, possibly some dark fruits, although this may be the molasses again. Tastes woody. Palate is amazing. Feels like a beer should.

A healthy dark beige foam thrones over the coffee brown, actively carbonated pour. Nevertheless, the head recedes to a thin sheet after a few seconds. Seducing smoky whiffs dominate the nutty, toasty, roasty malts with their iodine, woodsy and strong tobacco notions that pair along nicely with the soft herbal hops. More residual sugars than I’d expected from the nose align on the palate enveloping it with caramelized pecan laden toasted malts, the characteristics Simple Malt barley sugar undertone and a bolder, greasier, buttery molasses character that could easily have been too sweet, but is swiped away by the considerably above average carbonation. A very interesting and original creation that plays on several borders at once: A heavily carbonated dessert beer with layered cakey notes and a fitting high alcohol content and a smoked porter with salty umami, fruity and sea air notes. Impressively unique.

Bottle. Pours a totally black color with a medium beige head. The aroma is heavy smoke and roasted malts. The flavor is like a Imperial Smoked Porter; rich smoke, roasted malts, some caramel, earthy. Lots of chocolates. Quebec has some damn nice Smoked beers.
