This one’s not doing it for me. Pours pitch black with no head or lacing. Not a pretty beer in the glass. Nose is roasted espresso. Aromas are espresso, roasted malt, some limited smoke, and a faint hint of something sour in the finish. Tastes are big bitter from all the roasted aromas, lots of sweet syrupy as well. Mouthfeel is somewhat oily with medium carbonation. Meh.

Très classique dans le genre, ce Imperial Stout réussit parfaitement ce qu’il entreprend : noire comme la nuit, sentant l’espresso, la vanille et le chocolat, elle frappe également dans le mille sur le goût, très chocolaté (on croirait presque y déceler du fumé, pour la forme), sucré et bien rond, et la finale avec sa pointe d’amertume qui se rajoute à sa complexité. Un des meilleurs dans le genre au Québec actuellement.

À 8.1% d’alcool, la majestueuse Imperiale Stout de Simple Malt a une couleur noir foncé et un collet épais, généreux, couleur beige caramel. Nez de chocolat noir persistant. En bouche, le chocolat corsé prend beaucoup de place et une finale amène des flaveurs de café torréfié. Chaleureuse, cette bière offre une présence en bouche titanesque. C’est crémeux, amer, chocolaté, onctueux et ma foi très intéressant. Une des bonnes Imperial Stout que j’ai goûtées jusqu’à présent. Dans la finale, la chaleur de l’alcool est très présente, mélangée aux grains de café. Bon produit. À servir dans un verre ballon pour bien apprécier les effluves chocolatées qui se dégagent.

341 ml, 8.1%, peluso. Noire avec peu de mousse beige- brune. Odeur de chocolat. Gout de chocolat avec une amartume assez forte (IBU 61). Correcte, mais pas impressionnante. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

341ml bottle. A very dark brown body, small chocolatey head, medium retention. Aroma of licorice, wood, dark chocolate, roasted malt, slightly herbal. Taste is light and smooth upfront, with a moderate and sudden bitter wave: cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, light herbal hops. A full oily body, low carbonation. Long coffee bitterness in the aftertaste.

Aroma: The nose has roasted malts, chocolate, and some earthy notes
Appearance: This one pours a dark brown color with a tan head that leaves some sticky lace
Flavor: The taste is roasted and chocolatey with some earthy and chocolatey bitterness too
Palate: The body is medium-full, it’s a little chewy, and drinks kind of creamy
Overall Impression: Ovwerall, I thought this was a pretty solid one with a nice feel, some good components, and a nice balancing bitterness. Good stuff.

Bottle at Paul’s tasting. Pours near black with a beige head. Roasted malts, medium sweetness, some light earthy and smoky notes, and faint hints of chocolate. Solid.

bottle @Paul’s Blind Stout tasting-disappearing tan-black that sheets. A-earthy, musty, molasses/cocoa-dk malt. T-earthy, musty, 2nd med malt-toast/cocoa, some fruit.

Bottle. Pours a dense jet black with a large heavy tan head. Sweet chocolate, roast, malt on the nose. Medium to thick bodied, lots of roast, malt, cocoa. Bitter bakers cocoa. Tons of roast, long cocoa and bitterness into the finish. Quite lovely.
