English IPA, but with 62 IBUs.

After trying the Dunham Anglaise, I see that IPA’s can really vary in style, but this was even further out there. The aroma is more malty than hoppy. Moderate burnt dark bread and molasses. Light perfumey hops. Average mostly diminishing head over a dark clear amber body. Fair lacing. Moderately sweet, lightly bitter taste followed by a moderately bitter slightly sour, long lasting finish. Medium, oily palate with soft carbonation. Eh bien!

341ml bottle purchased at La Trappe a Fromage in Gatineau, Quebec. Clear amber in colour with a thin lasting off-white head, good lacing. Aroma is of light citrus, some syrup, moderate sweetness of white sugar. Flavour is lightly bitter with just a small amount of citrus hops coming through, very light sweetness and a bit thin. Bitter mouthfeel, medium/light body, moderate carbonation. Finishes mid length with a hoppy bitterness. I liked the Cascade much better then this, just not overly flavourful.

IPA de base qui ne propose rien de particulier en bouche mais a le mérite de commencer la soiree efficacement, mais sans histoire.

Pour is hazy amber with a bit of light tan head. Nose is all caramel and bread and fruit. Virtually nothing in the way of hops, though I suspect this bottle isn’t particularly fresh. Taste is caramel, roasted grain and nuts, with a bitter, slightly metallic finish. Definitely not my favourite offering from these guys.

Bottle from Épicerie des halles. Aroma: grapefruit, caramel, bread, earthy grain. App: Clear amber orange with thin head and some lacing. Taste: syrup, grapefruit, medium sweet, medium bitter. More earthy than fruity. Palate: medium body, thick feel, lively carbonation with bitter finish. Overall: Not bad but too sweet for an IPA even if it’s a British IPA (Classic). Would like to have more bitterness and maybe more fruitiness.

Dark Ruby-ish Amber Colour, brown in lower light setting, but very clear, not much haziness (is this filtered?). One finger head with little to no retention, a bit of spotty lacing. Nose: A bit of pumpkin spice?? Sweet Caramel Malt, Not a huge amount of hop aromas for a classic IPA, which at an ibu in the 60’s is a little disappointing.... Taste: Very nice! The sweet caramel toasty malt flavors of a red/dark beer, combined with grassy bitter hops. A nice combination. Mouth: Low to medium carbonation, regular body. not very sticky. Overall: Really nice, not very typical for a classic IPA honestly. IPA hops, combined with the malt flavors of a typical brown/amber beer. I tried several pale ales from the "simple malt" collection by brasseurs illimites, im not impressed, but theyre very drinkable. However, this one was probably my favorite!! If you can get it its worth a shot

Mix 6-pack from Depanneur Unique. IPA classique 6.4.% A deep amber gold with a beige foamy head that clings to the glass. A big thick malty caramel with herbal/floral notes. Full bodied creamy caramel malts with a zesty palate scraping carbonation. The taste is a zesty citrus and caramel malts. A good dose of bready powdered cocoa caramel English style IPA that is hop forward.

Pours a deep amber-brown color with a thin white head. Nose is caramel and nuts. Aromas are roasted malts, caramel, nuts, herbs and huge smokey aromas. Nice bitter finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
