COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
IBU 35.

Bottle. Almost no head on dark copper-amber. Boozy caramel nose. Tone down the booze Mr. Brewmaster. A bit sour. Licorice toffee and booze. Not enough complexity to justify the ABV.

Dark ruby with a small brown head. Heavy nose of caramel, dried fruits, vanilla and something like "crème patissière". Full bodied palate, low carbonation, very sweet as the nose would suggest with the flavors dancing around caramel, almost sticky palate and finishes on a nice crème brulée finale. Alcohol well hidden. I could’nt drink anything else after this one. Nice wee heavy.

Pours a dark amber with an off-white frothy head. Aroma is caramel and sweet malt. Taste is full of caramel and some malt. Somewhat one dimensional but very well balanced and good body. Real good beer.

My bottle [341ml] shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- c/o JulienHuxley. Pours a clear deep orange-amber with a spare diminishing off-white head. Aroma of light toasted malt with a hint of coffee and smoke. Malty flavour with a hint of smoke, a bit of coffee and some chocolate. Medium bodied. Pretty good.

Bottle: Poured a hazy amber color ale with a medium foamy head with average retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of medium sweet caramelized malt. Taste is somewhat one-dimensional with some caramelized malt and not much else to report. Body is above average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. I thought this was pretty standard with not much characteristics. I will have to try that one again.

Bottle - 341ml. Dark amber body with low carbonation and a thin beige foamy head. Good malty/hoppy aroma with caramel and cinnamon hints. Well balanced taste carries fruity and brown sugar notes. It ends with a decent, warming, bittersweet finish. Enjoyable Scotch Ale.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2010 Transparent dark copper with a thick eggshell cap. Nose of smokey malts, brown sugar, dark bread, strong hops. Sweet flavour profile has burnt caramel malts, vanilla, plum, lots of bittering hops. Lenghty sweet malty finish. A bit of booze on this one.

Pours a clear brown color with a thin light brown head. Interesting aroma of anise, vanilla and caramel. Good flavor of burnt caramel with anise and vanilla, the sweetness is present, but it’s not too much. The body is light to medium with a liquorous texture and soft carbonation. It’s an interesting beer even if it’s not a great example of the style.

Bouteille 341ml.

Thanks to Blankboy for sharing with HogTownHarry and I. Appearance: Brown body, almost red, small brown head. Aroma: A lot of caramel, sharp alcohol, almost a plastic/rubber aroma. Flavour: Sticky malt, quite sweet with a little coffee and chocolate near the end. Despite my initial dislike of the sweetness, it actually mellows out quite well. Nice.
