COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
IBU 35.

Coppery and fairly dark clear look with flashing gold highlights. Very tan fine head. Aroma alcohol (warm) and dark and dried fruit and hints earthy malty character (soil, underbrush, sweet mushrooms). Taste directly sweet but delicious with honey-toffee malts and dark fruits, Honestly a bit straightforward, since some ’wee heavy’ manages to be a bit mysterious and beguiling with more mineral to it, but the raisiny taste of this beer is just beautiful. Man remember when the beer we drank was shit?? Life has gotten better!

(Rating #3120)

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2010 Aroma : Brown sugar, burnt caramel, a bit of alcohol. Appearance : Clear dark brown to red covered by a thing layer of foam that disappear quickly and leaves little lacing. Taste : Caramel, roasted malts, toffee and a faint taste of spices. Quite sweet. Slightly hoppy. Mouthfeel : A bit "vinous". Enjoyable. Overall : Not a bad Scotch Ale I enjoy from time to time. 6er isn’t too pricey either. Quite balanced.

Bottle. Almost no head on dark copper-amber. Boozy caramel nose. Tone down the booze Mr. Brewmaster. A bit sour. Licorice toffee and booze. Not enough complexity to justify the ABV.

Dark ruby with a small brown head. Heavy nose of caramel, dried fruits, vanilla and something like "crème patissière". Full bodied palate, low carbonation, very sweet as the nose would suggest with the flavors dancing around caramel, almost sticky palate and finishes on a nice crème brulée finale. Alcohol well hidden. I could’nt drink anything else after this one. Nice wee heavy.

Pours a dark amber with an off-white frothy head. Aroma is caramel and sweet malt. Taste is full of caramel and some malt. Somewhat one dimensional but very well balanced and good body. Real good beer.

My bottle [341ml] shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- c/o JulienHuxley. Pours a clear deep orange-amber with a spare diminishing off-white head. Aroma of light toasted malt with a hint of coffee and smoke. Malty flavour with a hint of smoke, a bit of coffee and some chocolate. Medium bodied. Pretty good.

Bottle: Poured a hazy amber color ale with a medium foamy head with average retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of medium sweet caramelized malt. Taste is somewhat one-dimensional with some caramelized malt and not much else to report. Body is above average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. I thought this was pretty standard with not much characteristics. I will have to try that one again.
