3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 7/20
Crazy dark chocolate aroma, strongest Iíve ever smelled. Thick chewy palate of chocolate and alcohol, but enjoyable. Also, strange hop character...kinda a green bottle funk/bitterness that doesnít compliment. The alcohol is slightly overpowering, which is strange for a 7% abv

Bottle. Black-dark brown. Thick medium brown foam. Roasted malt aroma, medium strong.
Taste is a bit bitter. Malts, fruity hops, syrup. Surprisingly bittersweet with a malty body. Some carbonation feel. Good long bitter aftertaste. Alcohol is well hidden.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: SEP 21, 2013 Black beer with a big brown head leaving lacing on the glass. Aroma has dark bread, dark chocolate, roasted malts and coffee. Taste is loafy malty, roasty, coffeey and chocolaty. Mouthfeel is thick, oily and hard. Surprisingly high carbonation. Nice amount of bitterness in the finish. A true Finnish beer classic. Not the most spectacular dark beer but a really solid effort and an excellent price to quality ratio.

Pours dark with a thin tan head. Smell clings to the glass and hints at roasted malt, dried fruit. It has a great mouth feel and its density grabs your attention. Taste is roasted malt, sweet, with a pronounced fruit and garden taste prunes, jelly, hint of licorice. I was intrigued by the flavor. Have thought about it over the past few days. I canít decide if Iím a fan. I donít think I could drink many of these back to back: cloying? I want to take another run at it some time.

3.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The aroma of this brew is quite subtle with only a hint of roasted malt making its way forward, but the color is an opaque black with no head. The taste has a backbone of a heavy umami flavor with a touch bitterness and a slight sweetness that dovetail nicely; furthermore, the palate combines an average carbonation, a medium body, a bitter finish, and a slick texture, resulting in a very enjoyable beer.

12 ounce bottle. Smells like campfire smoke, toasted sugar, dried fruit. Appearance is dark brown with a tan head. Taste is roasted nuts and molasses, anise, prunes, hint of licorice and bitter coffee. Very drinkable for a baltic porter with so much flavor. Medium bodied, smooth. Overall, itís a traditional Baltic porter thatís well balanced and may set the benchmark for the style.
