Well it set itself just perfect. Black, tan foam sheeting up through a creamy body, smelled a bit like coffee from further away. Then I nosed in and there was something very interesting in there -- a bit of sasparilla and then the rest of a good porter. Roasty, malty honts of cacao, coffee. The texture and sweetness are just about perfect. If Jen wasn’t so good at detecting high wort temp errors this would’ve tasted even better.

Eclipse black color. Small head. Aroma is fruity (raisins and apricots). A lighter bodied porter. Roaster malts are sweet, choclately and fruity. Hops are mild. Very drinkable. Touch of oak and smoke. Smooth. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Looks like a giant glass of ristretto coffee, fine bubbled crema like head lasts until finished. Estery aroma with chocolate and burnt toffee. Smooth buttery chocolate flavour. Fine bubbles do wonders for the mouthfeel, pity about the watery finish.

stout-like, dark as the wheel-well of a land rover in a muddy rain forest. heavy malt aroma, gummy drippings from the bottom-of-the-stove, roasted molasses, soy, baked begetables: carrots maybe, yam, with a slight sulphurous note, and shoe polish. very sweet, it's a shock at first, but awash in all it's burned malts, the sweetness becomes nice. brown sugared pumpernickel and coffee candy. creamy, thin-bodied. low level bitterness.

UPDATED: DEC 4, 2003 Puors black and oily looking with a sandy brown head that kind of grows in the glass, if you know what I mean. Smells of alcohol and grapes. Thick and mouth coating, with a touch of sweetness, then a big bitter finish. As the glass warms, though, alcohol seems to dominate the flavor. Pretty good porter, though. Note tried this again recently. Bumped up my overall.

Dark brown color; big, creamy head. Aroma of malt, yoghourt, sweet. Good body strength, a bit oily, roasted malts, light liquorice, light paperboard. Bitterness given most of all by the roasted malt.

This one had a collaboration of styles going on with this one. It takes you in many different directions, but you really must let this one warm up before you can truly appreciate it flavors. Dark tawny brown color, with a big rocky head. The aroma is fruity, with lots of plums, figs and prunes in the taste. The aroma and the flavor also have a bit of fresh baked bread yeastiness. A bit watery at times, but as it warms, you can pick out some nice roasted chocolate flavors as well. Not a bad outing.

Slight metallic note also.Body is medium and smooth finishing slightly dry. Flavor is roasty and bitter with notes of cocoa and caramel. Overall very good for the style.

Bottled in 2000 - Bitter sweet chocolate aroma. The chocolate flavor dominates throughout, with just a touch of bitterness to balance. All in all a decent porter.

UPDATED: JAN 30, 2006 I had the opportunity to re-sample a bottle of Sinebrychoff Porter. Well blended mix of chocolate and licorise malts with a spicy yeast. Sweet and roasted malts flavor. An intersting twist on a Baltic Porter, I think it has a bit of English influence. Original rating 11.19.04 @ 3.1 It was a five year old bottle, probably past its prime.
