Pours black with a medium, thick dark tan head. Aroma is dark chocolate, nutty, mocha and some floral qualities. Taste is roasty bitters with sweetness coming through on the finish. Some acidic/sour notes on the backend. Medium bodied with a smooth and oily texture. Soft carbonation. Just a fantastic porter.

This beer is black, thick in an almost oily way and makes lots of brown head. The aroma and taste are very roasty and bready with some nice bitter hops in the finish. It’s a really solid and well balanced beer.

Pours dark with a thin tan head. Smell clings to the glass and hints at roasted malt, dried fruit. It has a great mouth feel and its density grabs your attention. Taste is roasted malt, sweet, with a pronounced fruit and garden taste prunes, jelly, hint of licorice. I was intrigued by the flavor. Have thought about it over the past few days. I can’t decide if I’m a fan. I don’t think I could drink many of these back to back: cloying? I want to take another run at it some time.

The aroma of this brew is quite subtle with only a hint of roasted malt making its way forward, but the color is an opaque black with no head. The taste has a backbone of a heavy umami flavor with a touch bitterness and a slight sweetness that dovetail nicely; furthermore, the palate combines an average carbonation, a medium body, a bitter finish, and a slick texture, resulting in a very enjoyable beer.

12 ounce bottle. Smells like campfire smoke, toasted sugar, dried fruit. Appearance is dark brown with a tan head. Taste is roasted nuts and molasses, anise, prunes, hint of licorice and bitter coffee. Very drinkable for a baltic porter with so much flavor. Medium bodied, smooth. Overall, it’s a traditional Baltic porter that’s well balanced and may set the benchmark for the style.

330ml bottle. Very dark brown colour, moderate cafe aux lait head. Looks like an Imperial stout. Chocolate, dark fruit and bread aromas. Tastes and feels a bit lighter than the looks would imply. Taste is bitter chocolate, coffee and earthiness, fruit isn’t as much present as it was in the smell. Overall, very satisfying.

UPDATED: APR 24, 2013 Cola black beer with small mocha head. Dark bread, tobacco ash and roasted coffee in the aroma. Sweetness and off notes of cooked vegetables in the flavor. This isn?t right. I?ve had this many times before and this tastes bad. I must rate another one later. Edit: Trying another one. Clearly better!

Bottle into glass. Black pour. Strong stale european dark malt aroma. Some sweetness at the end. Not seeing the big deal about this one.

Pitch blach, good tan head. Deep roasted aroma. Coffee, trecle. Also something solvent-like. Taste suprises with its initial smoothess. Lots of roasted malt. Aftertaste has good bitterness.
