COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nikolai Vehnä (Wheat) Lager is, in terms of its aroma and flavour, a pleasantly fruity lager whose wheat and hopped aroma - used in its manufacturing with barley malt - impart a particularly brisk mouthfeel. The can’s background pattern depicts a letter, written in 1819 to the Imperial Committee for Reconstruction, in which Nikolai Sinebrychoff, the founder of Sinebrychoff’, sought permission to build his brewery on a site in Helsinki. Every can bears Nikolai’s signature. Ingredients: water, barley malt, wheat, starch, hops, aroma. Gravity: 10.7 % Plato, color 8 EBC, bitterness 12 EBU

500ml Can - Golden in colour, with a white head. Fruity and hoppy aroma with hints of tea and grapefruit. Fruity and hoppy taste with some spicy malt and more tea and grapefruit elements. Not as bad as I was expecting.

Clear, pale golden beer with a medium-size but diminishing head and some lace. The aroma has lightly wheaty malts and citrus esthers. Light in the finish. Hops are barely noticable. The flavor has some sweetish maltiness and citrusy fruitiness. Not too sweet though. The palate is light bodied and a bit watery in the finish, well carbonated and quite refreshing.

500 ml can. Finland. Clear golden colour with thin white head. Weak wheat and citrus aroma. Quite nice though. Sweet flavour is also somewhat wheat and quite citrusy as well. Nothing spectacular but easy-to-drink.

500 ml can. Clear, quite nice colour. Pale head. Aroma is light and a little fruity. Taste has definitely a little wheat in it and feels like a good beer to drink in warm summer day. Not a milestone in beers, but surely I’m buying another one someday.

Canned. Golden colour, mediumsized fluffy white head, that vanishes quickly. Aroma is fruity, spicy and a bit wheat and soap. Flavour is wheat, honey, some slight wheat as well as mild rubbery notes. Very watery and quite boring. Quite soapy notes too.

Can (BB 09/2009). Clear, pale golden color, very small white head. Grainy-malty, a bit spicey aroma with light bubblegummy wheatish notes. Fizzy. Grainy malty and citrus candy honeyish sweet brew with sticky but light hoppy/spicey finish. Hints of wheat in the aftertaste. Very watery palate. Simple lager with (too) light wheaty notes - with citrus and honey notes, a bit like a Finnish sima. Nikolai III with less body and more sweetness?

A 0.5L can from local K-Supermarket. Pale head. Pale golden yellow colour. Soft slightly sweet waterly taste. Mild hoppiness. Mild taste of grass. Maybe good summer beer.
