A premium lager beer brewed from the finest ingredients, Singha is a full-bodied 100% barley malt beer that is distinctively rich in taste with strong hop characters. Brewed with three hops: Saaz, Perle and Hallertau. Editorís Note: Recipe scaled down from 6% to 5% in 2007.

From the bottle at Mai Tai in Alexandria, VA. Poured a light straw colored gold, small head with a fair amount of carbonation. Tasted like about a million other pale lagers -- which to me is a good thing. I wasnít noticing any overly bitter hops, like some of the reviewers did. This is what I could call a comfort beer -- when youíre in the mood to drink beer and not think about it -- but still look different from all your friends.

Very pale golden color with a thick white head. Aroma of corn, malt and hops. Flavor moves quickly from sweet malt to the bittering hops. For what it is, not bad. Accompanies Thai food very well.

Clear gold, small white head.
Faintly corny aroma of malt and hop bitter.
Dryish, somewhat sharp flavor mainly of hop bitter, with a faint malt sweetness in the background. Very watery and thin, as expected. Bitter aftertaste, with a hint of corny sweetness.
Clean mouthfeel, carbonation a bit on the heavy side, but typical for this type of beer.
This is really not as bad as Iíd expected, but a very typical bulk lager in any case, of course. As asian pale lagers go, it really could be a lot worse. A good enough beer for a meal.

UPDATED: JUN 8, 2008 Excited carbonation just sustains a white froth. Crisp crackers and sugary breads support a bright mix of flowers and grass. A bitter tingle refreshes alongside vigorous carbonation as a clean sweetness sates the palate. Enough heft considering the delicateness; glides along with a slick sensation.

Expertly constructed, clean and refreshing to no end, though there is definitely room for more personality.

33 cl bottle, best before 02 May 2009.

Typical lager body, aroma and taste. Some cheese accents in the aroma though. Cheeseish ending.

bottle - oh look, itís another fizzy yellow beer. Truth be told, itís not as bad as most beers of this type. Though Iím not sure where the commercial description gets "strong hop characters". The hops are definitely not strong and corn like malt flavors dominate. Anyway, itís not terrible, but itís not too good either. edit: hah... I wasnít paying attention to my # of ratings and the milestone music caught me by surprise. If Iíd noticed this was #200 Iíd have made it the Rochefort 8 I just had tonight. Bah.

I had this while having lunch with my best friend at some local Thai restaurant. Clean golden color with some medium sized carbonation with a snow-wite head. Aroma is lighly malted with some corn and very, very lightly hopped. Corn plays a large role in the taste as does the malt. Very crisp, very clean. I consider this to be drinkable WITH Thai food but I doubt Iíd ever drink it by itself. Helps cut thru some of the spiciness of my Thai. Slightly above average IMO.

A very malty beer that seems the norm for "Asian" beers. It tasted mush better when eating sushi and thai.
