2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 VillageBeerVin (17) - Buffalo, New York, USA - OCT 21, 2009
straight from the 12oz bottle from Village Beer Merchant. My beer of choice to take to the local liquor-license-free Thai restaurant, or to accompany my home-made Thai meals. Smell of grassy and skunky hops with grain. Lightly roasted grain and pilsner-type noble hop punch in the flavor that stands up to spicy food so well. Solid macro lager, especially when fresh. US macros just don’t have as much of that delicious german/czech hop flavor.
1.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 FROTHINGSLOSH (3205) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 19, 2009
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a pale yellow-golden color with a huge yellow-white head. The aroma was sour, tangy, industrial and a bit skunky. The flavor was dry and crisp with notes of cardboard and faint floral hops. The finish was short, dry and crisp. Eh.
1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 Tod (8) - Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 17, 2009 does not count
as the Aussie says below. This is like any cheap American, national beer, but made in Thailand. I don’t know how ya’ll categorize Budweiser, Singha, Tiger, Miller, Old Milwaukee, or various cheap beers in Australia, but this is what you buy when you need a "beer" and real beer is NOT available or inconvenient.
In other words: it’s crap.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 davidm (1246) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - OCT 14, 2009
Bottle. Another boring pale lager. Aroma is floral (very light). Sweet flavour, with light bitterness. Thin and watery; yellow colour with a thin head that doesn’t last.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 zdk (1609) - New York, New York, USA - OCT 13, 2009
Bottle at a Thai restaurant in NYC. Cold refreshing macro lager. I tend to like the Asian lagers better than americans though. Pairs better with spicy asian food. Has a nice floral quality and a hoppy kick. Nothing out of this world, but it will do!
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 probstk (1911) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 9, 2009
330 ml bottle from LCBO, served cold in a Scotch Irish taster glass.
App.: Clear light golden with a fair white foam.
Aroma: Slightly fruity and biscuity cereal/grain malt, hints of green, grassy hops.
Palate: Medium-ish body, medium carbonation.
Flav.: Better than the nose with a bit more malt, still toast and biscuit with less cereal/grain/adjunct, light old apple juice, a touch nutty and earthy like a British Ale actually, still a touch of grassy hops; dry with a touch of bitterness and a little light oxidized malt.
Nothing great, but drinkable.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20 DeadGirl (473) - La Jolla, California, USA - OCT 9, 2009
UPDATED: OCT 18, 2009 Pours a light golden yellow from the 12oz. bottle: Possibly my favorite macro yet. Characteristics of dry malts and grains. Comparable to a pils but much better Almost has a fruity texture to it and pairs VERY nicely to spicy foods (try the Pad Woon Sen). Drinkability: Put this on my beer pong table anytime. Rebuy: Yes. DG #133 on 09102009, DG.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Quack-Duck (5596) - Down South, GERMANY - OCT 8, 2009
bottle, at a local Asian restaurant. Clear golden colour, small white head. Fruity nose. Malty, fruity, lightly grainy. Fruity finish with a touch of alcohol. Not bad, quite all right!
