COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A premium lager beer brewed from the finest ingredients, Singha is a full-bodied 100% barley malt beer that is distinctively rich in taste with strong hop characters. Editor's Note: Recipe scaled down from 6% to 5% in 2007.

Had this with sushi. Was good, but just your run of the mill lager. Nothing special. It was very refreshing.

UPDATED: MAY 5, 2010 So what’s wrong with this beer? Surprisingly little. Another under-rated Asian lager. Nice German Noble-esque hops on the nose. Tasty Pils malt component with some definite hop presence throughout. Well done for what is technically macro brewed. It claims to be 100% malt, and I can actually believe it as there really isn’t much to suggest any adjuncts here. Very well balanced with a solid feel to it. A nice beer I’m glad I gave a chance to try.

Toffee in the nose, golden color, bit of German-style hops in palate (hallertauer/tettnanger?), also mild hoppy aroma, caramel in palate. Not bad, thanks for sharing Ron!

Got my Thailand rating out of the way with this one. Clear yellow with almost no head. Some hops and sweet malt that also had a slightly sour taste.

It’s beer-o-thirty in my book, which means that anytime is basically beer time.
Singha pours a pale clear yellow into my standard lager glass. A small head of foam forms, but quickly fades into total nonexistence. In the nose, a sweet array of light lager yeast notes, grass, and a bit of corn. A very mild light body with a small steady stream of bubbles, though Singha thankfully doesn’t feel or taste overly carbonated, instead it is just the right amount. Overall a sweet palate, with hints of fresh grass and lemon in the back. It leaves a bit of bitterness similar to lemon rind during the overall quaff. A light lager beer in both body and palate, no flavor profile is overly prominent. The bitter lemon tang and fresh grass is pleasant, though I am now getting a bit of a metallic aftertaste which isn’t as pleasant.
Overall, a bit too sweet for my personal taste when it comes to lagers, and I didn’t enjoy the aftertaste. Singha isn’t a bad lager but it isn’t great either.

THOUGHTS: I thought this would be better, being a premium lager, but it does one of the best pale lager impressions I’ve ever seen or tasted. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, light yellow with a small to average, fizzy, white head that mostly diminished and left virtually no lacing. The aroma was not offensive but was very weak. There was mostly light to moderate grassy hops some vegetable and ever so slight vinegar. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and sour; while the finish was moderately sweet and bitter, lightly acidic, and sour with an average duration. There was sweet malt, corn, sourness, grassy and metallic hops. The light body was watery then dry with fairly soft carbonation and a light to moderate astringent finish.

Bottle. Pale. No head. Sweet (malt) and refreshing. Works OK with the less spcicy thai dishes.
