COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Considering not only that we’re the first operating micro-brewey in Queens since Prohibition, but that our address also signifies the year Prohibition ended, what else could we call our flagship Lagrrr?

On tap at the brewery. Not sure about this one. Lemony, diacytyl, grass, maybe a bit musty. Maybe over hopped for the style? I don’t know. This one was just sitting a little left of the tasty line for me.

This beer just absolutely stunk of diacetyl so it was rather difficult to assess anything else about it. It did have a brilliantly clear appearance but I am not really going to give a professional brewer much credit for brewing a clear lager. I asked the bartender about other complaints and they had received many. Apparently, the brewery refused to take the beer back and said that it was not diacetyl and was a secret caramel ingredient they couldn’t say what it was. Not only is this beer not worth trying, you can’t even trust the brewery! No place in the beer industry.

Pours a clear bright gold with a white lacing. Initially sweet finishing bitter. Lacking in flavor and uniqueness

Spitzer’s Corner, NY tap: Pours a golden color with white head. Aroma is American hops with some butterscotch. Taste is kind of weird at the front, then it gets into somewhat nondescript American hops. I don’t know how I feel about the taste at the front of the front, which really detracts from the beer. The hop character is just bitter mostly. Not very pleasant, but after the first few sips, it gets more palatable. Queens still got to work on their beer.

Location: Draft at Spitzer’s Corner, 12/29/12

Aroma: The nose of this beer starts off malty and toasty, with some German-style yeast, German and Czech hops, a little paper, and some odd, almost astringent, cleaning supply notes as well
Appearance: It pours a dark golden color with a foamy, lasting white head and mid-heavy lace
Flavor: The flavor is similar to the nose, it is not really sweet, with a malt presence and some German-style Pilsener hops. It also has an odd cleaner-like flavor that is slightly skunky and a little astringent. It finishes fairly bitter, but the cleaner feel seems to mask the hoppiness.
Palate: The body is light-medium, fairly clean, with some plus carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: I was excited to try this beer as it is from a brand new NYC (Queens to be a little more specific) brewer. It’s not a terrible beer, but it just didn’t work quite right for me. I really did find some nice components, but that odd cleaning supply component just hurts the overall enjoyment of the beer. Maybe it was an issue with the tap line or this keg? I’m certainly willing to try it again next time I see it, but for now I can’t go much higher then this. Welcome to the local beer scene Singlecut, I look forward to trying your other beers!
