Draft at the brewery taproom. Pours clear amber-brown (mahogany!!!) with a creamy, white. Nice bready malt nose, some pine, caramel. Light to medium sweet flavor with toasted pine, wholegrain bread, some ripe orange. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Nicely balanced on the finish, some bitter orange rind, toasted pine, brown bread. Good stuff.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at The Bronx Ale House. Aroma of yeasty, freshly baked bread and lots of floral hops. Sheet lacing on the glass. It tastes of dark bread, yeast, and APA hops. A somewhat unusual combination that works out well.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Location: Draft at The Growler, 4/10/13
Aroma: The nose has some citrus, herbal, and pine hops, caramel malts, and some toast as well
Appearance: This one has a dark red pour with a beige head, and fairly thick, heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is similar to the nose component-wise, it leans bitter without too much sweetness
Palate: The body of this one is medium and it has a decent mouthfeel, the finish is on the dry side
I thought this was a perfectly acceptable hoppy red beer. It isnít a standout for the style, but it is pretty clear between this and the Half Stack (vs. the Lagrrr) that Singlecut, so far at least, does ales better than lagers.

@ Singlecut. Pours copper with an off-white ring. Aroma is in your face piney hops. Quite the surprise there. Taste follows through and is not totally overpowering. Interesting how restrained the taste was considering the aroma. Palate was slightly thin, though they also had the beer on nitro. Didnít try the nitro, but Iím going to assume Iíd like the mouthfeel better there. Finish is bitter and does not linger long. Iím a fan of this one.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep red pour. Aroma was pretty grassy. Foamy head. Lots of lace with a full mouth. Taste is very malt forward. The bitterness was not overly prevelant. Not bad, but I think this could have benefited from a dry-hop or another hop addition in the boil.
