Golden color; nice thin perlage; thick head, big. The classic aroma for a Tripel, the taste is in the beginning not so special, but revealing later some malt (still dry mouthfeel) and a good hopping. In the final, the bitterness is long, bearing some Belgian hop aromas as well.

Draft. Murky gold. Tall fomay head. Spicy nose with lots of fruit, yeast, flowers and a nice hop bite. Taste is sweet, ripened fruits, Belgian yeast, light spices, and a fresh flower bouquet. Body has some sharpness to it with a medium overall feel. Finishes with a larger spice profile, more fruit notes, light hops, yeast and flowers.

Bottled (on Nov 30th, 2005) Clear, orange body. Off-white head. Aroma of hops, oranges, soap. Moderately bitter initial flavour. Lightly sweet, moderately bitter finish. Quite alcoholic flavour. Fully bodied. Due to the alcoholic flavour, I don’t like this.

schuimkroaat (424) - Leuven, BELGIUM - FEB 8, 2006
33 cl bottle, bottled on 30th Nov 05. Deep orange coloured and sprinkled with a lot of petite sediment particles, it displays a coarse, mostly diminishing head with a nice lace. The aroma is hoppy and fruity with fennel and sulphurish notes. Round and juicy taste, with retronasally hop oils. A blunt punch of sweetness in the middle, followed by a soft hoppy flavour. Solid and spritzy palate.

UPDATED: JUL 29, 2007 (Bottled, the blond version of "Pater Van Damme", 7-4-7-4-15=3.7) Hazy golden amber with a smallish, but firm and lacy, white head. Aroma of slightly sweet, honeyish malt - with hints of grainy rye and yeasty alcohol. Pretty malty and smooth flavor with mellow lemony fruitiness, mild acidity and well-hidden alcohol. Even smoother with yeast poured in, but not that complex. Medium to full-bodied, soft-carbonated palate. Smooth, balanced and enjoyable. My best guess would be, that this is actually the Sint Canarus Tripel. (Bottled) amber color with a very small head. Fruity, berryish aroma with nice grassy hopping in the background, and some mushroom hints. Very toffeeish, hoppy flavor with lots of fruit. Medium-bodied, quite refreshing, but not thin palate with balanced carbonation. An excellent, tasty and balanced, very fruity-berryish tripel. Even the faint cardboard hints won’t hide its excellence - quality stuff!

UPDATED: JAN 7, 2008 Golden color with chunks of yeast. malty, vinous aroma. A slight hopbitterness in the flavor is beaten by a strong alcohol character. Likeable, but not too well balanced. Bottled 15/06/04 tasted 06.01.08: Sold as Deventer triple. Golden color. Malt, honey and a hint of flowers in the aroma. malty sweet flavor with flowery hops and pineapple. Soft flowery vanilla bitter aftertaste. Well balanced tripel, maybe a bit thin. (7 3 7 3 13 = 3.3)

Dark golden with a big head that left nice lacing. Spicy yeast and green apples aroma. Sweet, fruity flavour, dryish finish. Full body, fizzy. A well-made trippel.
