IlBevitorediLA (452) - ITALY - FEB 17, 2013

330ml bottle dated best by March 30, 2013. Pours a bit dark for a triple, but nonetheless a lovely shade of cloudy orange with a light, fringe, off-white lacing. Wonderful, enticing aroma of honeycomb, dark citrus, and creamy hops. It might be a little unfair because it has some age, but this is drinking beautifully. Soft brown spice and honeyed/candied citrus and white fruit -- BUT finishes just to the dry. Extremely palatable. Not sure what it’s like young, but this is delicious. A little like an aged Houblon?

UPDATED: JUN 30, 2013 330ml bottle at BXL East. Pours cloudy golden colored with a thick, foamy white head. Aroma is fruity and yeasty, classic Belgian triple. Taste is nicely balanced, with notes of spice, yeast and fruity malts. Nicely done.

A good belgian. Pours a cloudy orange with light head. Not much smell, a little fruity and herby. Taste is sweet, and a little bit of green apple. A little boozy aftertaste. Good! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

11.2 oz bottle 8/22/12 (Binny’s Downers Grove)-42° in Trappist Glass-Pours a murky goldenish amber with a one finger white head. Aroma of caramel, dark fruits, toffee, and yeast. Taste of the same with a bit more yeast, toffee, and caramel. This medium bodied brew is well balanced and goes down easy. Nice brew.

11.2oz bottle in a Trappist glass. Pours amber with a lacy, cream-colored head. Aroma of spicy yeast, caramel malts, some light fruits, and floral hops. The sweetness and fruitiness is a little more than for most tripels. Average texture. A decent beer.

The aroma is complex with grassy herbal hops, spices, sugary malt and sightly funky yeast. The appearance is amber with a foamy head and lots of particles. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall interesting but not great.

Pour is a murky yellow with a small white head. Aroma is faint fruity esters and not much else. Flavor is a little fruit but mostly its just a dull malt. This may be one of the worst triples I’ve had from Belgium. Flavorless and boring.
