Dark brown beer with an unstable head. Light fruity smell. Taste of dark malt and roasted malt. Bitter with something sweet in the background. Not well balanced.

Clear warm brown colour, cream head. Aroma of caramel, malts, quite sweet. Sweet malty flavour, caramel, light chocolate, brown sugar. Bit thin. Rather fizzy. Finish cacao, quite sweet, metallic iron. Not the most exciting Dubbel, beautiful bottle though.

Alengrin (2464) - BELGIUM - OCT 12, 2014
Tasted from tap, a Limburg abbey dubbel with a thick, creamy head and estery fruity and malty nose, something toasted, sweet taste with spicy accents, caramelly, dryish finish, somewhat oily mouthfeel but insufficient body and complexity to my taste.

A sweet and dark (dark caramel) aroma. The caramel also passes by in the taste, which makes it a little sweet, but with still a nice bitter ending

Een goed donker bier dat aan de verwachtingen voldoet, net als hun tripel eigenlijk

Bottle at home. Pours clear amber brown with a cream head. Aroma of malt, caramel, raisins and overripe dark fruit. Flavour is over moderate sweet and light moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Pours chestnut brown with medium head. Sweet, malty aroma and flavour, with a hint of yeast in the mouth. Not bad, not outrageously good either.

blackisle (867) - IJburg, NETHERLANDS - JUL 23, 2014
Bottle 33cl. Opaque deep redbrown color, generous creamy tan head, mostly lasting layer, good lacing; aroma roasted malts, brown sugar, caramel, dark fruit, cloves, herbs, alcohol; roasted sweetbitter taste, peppery, bit raw; full body, oily to creamy texture; roasty bittersweet finish, earthy and alcoholic notes. A somewhat coarse beer, not bad att all but could use more refinement.

Draught. Aroma is not very intensive - some dark fruit like cherry, alcohol well hidden. Soft carbonation. Average.

Standard Belgian dubbel beer. Has all the usual traits of the style, but nothing outstanding.
