4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
[2003 bottleling - sampled December 2004] A deep red beer with a huge brown head. The aroma is quite sweet with notes of prunes, raisins, and burnt caramel. The flavor is sweet, very roasted, with notes of caramel, prunes, chocolate as well as hints of yeast. The end is very dry roasted almost like pibe tobacco.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
(My label says clearly: brewed and bottled by 3 Horne, Kaatsheuvel for St. Servattumus).
Dark ruby-brown; brownish slim but creamy head. Rich nose: preserved fruits, dipped in caramel, poured over with a good brandy-based liqueur. Roasted, even burnt malts and caramel... on the verge of really bitter. After the shock has gone, a new flavour comes up, as from goat cheese or blue cheese. Palate has more bitterness, but this is hoppy too. Warming up, tobacco notes. Full-bodied, warming. I'm flabbergasted. Is this the same beer as the other raters had? I just love it. Young and 3 Horne, recipe from Sint-Servattumus, I must be dreaming - short of miracle.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tap. t Arendsnest Jan 2004. Deep ruby red black, thin beige head and low but fine condition. Dissapointingly nondescript aromas with some faint malt but little else, slightly beefy with traces of sweetness in the mouth and finally some hops emerging in the finish. As appealing as Knal water.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled 12-03. Very dark brown color. Almost no head at all. Cane sugar aroma, a bit dusty. Sweet and sugary, roasted malt. Alcohol masked by the sugary sweetness. Rather flat beer with some potential, that needs to develop further.
