iep (228), Amsterdam, Netherlands Nov 30, 2007 Updated: Dec 1, 2007Pale body, large head (no this is not an autobiography). Lots of lacing. (my head isn’t that large really). Sweet, malty and floral aroma with honey, liqourice, orange and vanilla. Lots of unfermented honey on the palate, as well as caramel, kamille, liqourice, aniseed, dark sugar. Full-bodied. Avoid this if you dislike sweet beer or liqourice. altonbrownd (999), Amsterdam, Netherlands Nov 17, 2007 Bottle from Bier Koning. Hazy orange. Medium head. Spicy, sweet nose. Taste has citrus, peppers. Can definitely taste the zoet hout. Has a strong, high alcohol kick to it at the end. Enjoyable. MiP (6029), Flensburg, Germany Oct 29, 2007 Bottle, 8%. Weak plastic aroma, some CO2. Cloudy orange colour. Very small white head. The flavour is surprisingly spicy, though slightly rough. A little sweet and malty with anis aftertaste. chris_o (4409), London, Greater London, England May 25, 2007 Bottle, April 2006. Cloudy yellowish colour. Spicy, estery fruit aroma. Sweet, fruity flavour. I presume this comes from the "zoethout" although I can’t say I’ve ever tasted them. I certainly wouldn’t have picked liquorice as a component. Overall, quite tasty.
oh6gdx (6339), Vaasa, Finland May 6, 2007 Bottled. Hazy golden colour, small white head. Aroma is alcohol, wheat, fruits, yeast and some licorace. Flavour is fruity hops, quite "woody", sweet caramelly and sugary. Wellbalanced and nice.
