2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
(Draught at Sophie ’n Eck, Berlin, 26 July 2014) Pale yellow colour with white head. Malty nose with notes of bread, hay and peaches. Malty taste with bread, grass, pineapple, a touch of citrus and a dry finish with low bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Clean and quite harmless, a bit bland but quite refreshing. Enjoyable.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Lesser known, but estimated representative of the Kölsch style, with yellowish white, creamy, stable head and pure, clear golden blonde colour. Malty aroma, lightly sweet, with sourish grains, peppery hops, cheese spread, green apple and lemon; dry, grainy taste, mineral-like quality of spring water, evolving into a sharp, very long, peppery hop bitterness. Refreshing, thirst-quenching, elegant and refined, one of the better examples of the style I had so far.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle from Beer Gonzo, Coventry. Aroma is slightly wheat with some red berries in there. Taste is bread, honey sweet. Low bitterness. Pretty refreshing but a bit sweet. Much better than a crap mass lager!

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Typical Kölsch flavour. Wich means it is malty, light an slightly hopped. Especially nice to drink when you’re in Cologne, because it is the tradition there that the waiters keep them coming.
