Very attractive looking beer. Golden palish crystal to the eye with a pure white head. Good fruit in the nose delivering a similar clean taste. Some modest richness too. Nice.

Very disappointing Kolsch. Overly carbonated for the style. Thin and flavourless.

Tap @ Brauhaus Sion, Cologne. Golden amber, big foamy head. Mild grain corn aroma. Corn grain vanilla flavour. Bitter sweet aftertaste. Very average lager +

50cl bottle thanks to my robotics friends. Appearance - Nose - pale malt, popcorn, bread straight out of the oven. A hint of herbs and/or lemon. Taste - tangy lemon and malt. Palate - light to medium bodied with a tangy texture and a dry finish. Overall - another solid Kolsch.

500ml bottle shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours clear pale gold, thin white head. Bready malt aroma, herbal hops. Taste is light sweet, light bitter. Astringent finish. Ok.

UPDATED: MAR 16, 2014 Tap @James Joyce Irish Pub, Bonn 13/02, the only near-local option (Vulkan discontinued). Served in a custom-defying 0,3L glass, which was the only remarkable thing about this. In the same boring, corn and cardboard league as Früh but without the Früh lemonade malts. Soggy, laff, lacking the crisp malts and gentle hop kick that redeems Kölsch as a style worthy of survival. Matches the overall feel of lacklustrely managed Irish pub in Germany very well in this respect, a bland posthumous stomp in Joyce’ joyous groin.//rerate from bottle 02/2014: pours with considerably more character and characteristic lemonade malts, fizzily, from the beautifulky labelled bottle, lifting up the overall drinking experience over a potentially pedestrian chug. +0,8

Clean and headless. Simplistic pilsner malts and little character. Bitter watery taste. Cereal and metallic. Bleh. (33cl bottle from Saveur Bière)

I’ve got one in a see through bottle that made me suspicious, and 4,8 ABV. Clear golden colour, head fades away soon but leaves a good lace. Fresh hoppy semll, grainy, citrus and herbs. Medium to light body, feels really good in the tongue. Clean taste is similar to the smell, refreshing, hops, flowers. Very good indeed.
