Van de tap in Sion Brauhaus in Köln. Geserveerd in de Kölsch stange. Lichtgele kleur, leuke kraag. Hoppig aroma. Smaakt bitterzoet. Wel ok maar niks bijzonders.

500 ml bottle. Pours a dark golden colour with a small head. Aroma of grainy malts, some wet earthy notes and grass. Flavour of grainy malts, quite strong grassy notes, mild yeastiness, some fruitiness and tartness. Light bodied and high carbonation. Decent.

On tap at Sion. Pours a clear yellow with white head. Aroma is lemony and grainy. Taste is light grain, bread, slighlty tart. Easy drinking but not very clean. Decent.

Sampled in Koblenz, on the Rhine. Subtle fruit aroma. A a clear amber pour with no head or ring. The taste is malt forward with hints of fruit. Medium-light body and crisp carbonation. Smooth, yet dry mouthfeel. Overall, enjoyable with German food.

500ml bottle. Pours clear, golden, with small, quickly disipating head. Sweet but crisp tasting. Unremarkable but ok

Location: Draft at Reichenbach Hall, 9/12/14

Aroma: It has a standard, fairly light, malty aroma, rather sweet, there’s not much else here
Appearance: It pours a mostly clear gold color with a small off-white colored head
Flavor: The taste is medium-plus sweet, malty, with a light bitter grassy hop taste as well
Palate: The body is fairly light, clean, finishes lightly dry, it doesn’t have the greatest feel, but okay
Overall Impression: This is a fairly forgetable beer. It isn’t offensive or highly flawed or anything, just a light, clean, and fairly dull beer. I’ll file this away as fine in the mental vault, and probably only order it again if the choices are rather limited.

Light golden colour, subtle hops. Pleasant finish. Nice Refreshing Beer. As usual, it tastes much better on draft than bottle.

Svesse (6174) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - SEP 18, 2014
(Draught at Sophie ’n Eck, Berlin, 26 July 2014) Pale yellow colour with white head. Malty nose with notes of bread, hay and peaches. Malty taste with bread, grass, pineapple, a touch of citrus and a dry finish with low bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Clean and quite harmless, a bit bland but quite refreshing. Enjoyable.

Alengrin (2065) - BELGIUM - SEP 5, 2014
Lesser known, but estimated representative of the Kölsch style, with yellowish white, creamy, stable head and pure, clear golden blonde colour. Malty aroma, lightly sweet, with sourish grains, peppery hops, cheese spread, green apple and lemon; dry, grainy taste, mineral-like quality of spring water, evolving into a sharp, very long, peppery hop bitterness. Refreshing, thirst-quenching, elegant and refined, one of the better examples of the style I had so far.

Aroma of malt, grains, light hop. Flavour is grainy, light sweet, with a light bitter finish. Typical dull Kolsch.

Drunk on draught on the banks of the Rhein in Bonn. Pleasant enjoyable light beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
