Bottle from Beer Gonzo, Coventry, drank 24/10/13 packing for Cali. Clear to foggy bronze with a fine off white collar speckling with lace. Big brazen Jelly Tot and Tropical Starburst aroma with blackcurrant, sweat, guava..almost garlic. That’s pushing a 9. Huge and peppery with aromatic pine, mushy tropical fruits, chalky flowers, pot pourri, gentle warm. Corn and honey? Not a trace. Burps of sorrel and root beer; dragonfuit, galangal. Top draw IPA. And massively drinkable- pity it was the wife’s and I only got the dregs.

Tap at brewdog camden - beautiful vibrant dark red to brown body. Heavy wood chips, dark red fruit, warming alcohol, raisins in the nose. Taste is very complex but still gentle. Nice hops to balance the barrel aging/alcohol. Rather like a hoppy barley wine than an iipa

Tap at Hamnmästaren. Hazy orange, thick/frothy small white head. Aroma has mango and other tropical fruit, cookie doughy malt. Taste is as above but with a great bitterness dominated by grapefruit. Smooth mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Great bitter after taste.

Half pint. A: Pale golden, very hazy, large head, moderate retention, lots of lacing. S: Lots of mango, some molasses, quite medicinal. T: Very sweet for an IPA, fruity, molasses, substantial burn. M: Fairly crisp for abv, smooth, moderate carbonation. O: Decent, drinkable beer, a sipper but I get the feeling they tried too hard.

25/10/2013 Ma che siete venuti a fà (tap). Dorata carica, torbida, schiuma bianca leggera, mediamente persistente. Al naso nette note agrumate e floreali, di resina, malto presente, alcol. In bocca è abbastanza equilibrata tra dolce e amaro, ha una base di malto importante, sul finale una sensazione di radice, e l’alcol si sente troppo. Corpo medio-elevato, carbonazione media. Rozza e sgraziata.
