4.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Brewdog bottle shop into tulip glass. Nice dark black with tan head, tight foam. Oily cocoa, vanilla, strong milky, liquorice, some coffee. Wow, medium to thick body in the mouth, loads of sweetness up front with lasting bitterness, the end body as you swallow is almost like swallowing marshmallow, or air in a good way? Doesn’t leave any cloying feeling, just a really pleasant lingering chocolate and cyprus almost orange taste. Very, very nice.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUN 27, 2014 Pours a deep brown black, with a thick, creamy heavily tinted head. Aroma is heavily malted, with a chocolate edge and notes of orange. Taste is that of a quality breakfast stout, with a pleasant upfront bitterness lent by the the cacao and cypress wood aging, which is in itself softened by softened by notes of tropical fruit.
All in all a really enjoyable chocolate influenced milk stout with some nice subtleties provided by the the hop selection and the cypress wood.
EDIT: Had another bottle, 26/06/2014. Just as good as the first, but even more enjoyable with a little more concentration on exactly what’s going on in this incredible concoction. Bumped up the score to 4.2. Sublime.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draught @ Fermentoren Aarhus. Pours cloudy very dark brown with stable rich tan head. Dark aroma of coffee, caramel malt, barrel, and roast. Sweet flavour of malt, caramel, chocolate and some fruit, with bitter and roasty notes. Lively carbonation, not disturbing the good, creamy mouthfeel. Roasty and rough aftertaste. A very good Foreign Stout!
