Backlog rating. 33cl bottle from Ales by Mail. It pours a dark brown color with a medium tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of dark chocolate, toffee, vanilla and light booze. Taste is big, bold and sweet with more dark chocolate, raisins, bread, vanilla and honey. Light roastiness to keep the finish a bit drier. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, really good but I feel it fails to deliver all the goodness that the name and description would suggest

Last beer of the night. Thanks! A: Black body, mocha head, legs. N: Molasses, cocoa, wood, lactose, char, and smoke. T: Bittersweetness. Nicely balance - wonder if it’s the cypresswood showing up here. M: Thick body, light carbonation. O: This is an island in the sun! (I have kids, sue me.) Being the last beer of the night, I can only hope I gave this the attention it deserved. I did rather enjoy it.
